Why no love for Freo?

Normally I'm whinging about Geelong getting the recognition we deserve, especially after Mike Sheehan saying the cracks are showing after our 4-0 start to the season.
But seriously, how have Freo flown under the radar this year? Pre-season many had tipped them to slide along with the Cats but just wait until your team plays them. Their forward pressure has been massive this year. Chris Mayne is an absolute menace in the forward 50 and if you have big forwards you can expect them to have a tough night. When we played them an admitedly rusty JPod didn't get near it. Last night Hall went almost kickless although Grant did bob up with a few goals in the end of what was a very workmanlike performance by him.
In the midfield Mundy is going from strength to strength and one of my favourites Ffye is starting to look like a real player. Despite a seemingly never ending run of injuries to their back half up bobs blokes like Lower and Roberton who played well despite a few errors last night.
Then they have the biggest obstacle in the game Sandilands. Despite the Bulldogs sharking his taps for the first three quarters he still presented a big problem in the decisive last quarter. The Sandilands factor in tight games is massive in every respect. Matty Pavlich remains the everywhere man but many people who haven't watched the Dockers play recently will be astounded to see the improvement in Kepler Bradley who is gaining in confidence by the week.
With pace, improvers, genuine guns, fantastic forward pressure and the best ruckman in the game this mob from the West are going to be a genuine flag chance this year....even if nobody notices them.

REB

Ever heard the story of the Boy that Cried Wolf? Freo have had several seasons of good form, yet when it counts in the finals go missing in action. I am sure they will hit the radar once the finals do start though!

Boy cries Wolf, boy has a few laughs...I forget how it ends.

They did win a final last year which is fairly standard form from an interstate side that finishes in the bottom half of the eight.
Freo have had several seasons of good form? Must of missed that. Last year they came good and this year they are going on with it. If your team hasn't played Freo yet I say settle in for a stressful afternoon or evening because these bastards just don't go away. They didn't even play that well last night with several key players down but they accounted for the highly (over)rated Bulldogs who are desperately trying to avoid being called the Flat Track Western Bulldogs.
When the Catters played them we only won it because they couldn't kick straight and that is one statistical area that they need to improve in.
FINAL SCORE
Fremantle 11.16
Carlton 7.21
It's coming folks ha ha.

Agree REB. Freo must get top 4 spot though. I really rate freo and had them pencilled in at 3-4 for season. Very hard for a Non vic side to win it from outside top 4.

i think they flew under the radar at the start with injuries and poor form in the preseason, geelong was lucky to get them very early as they wont lose a game in the west from now on

I was very impressed with them last night. It was a tough, tight contest all night and I thought they were gone when they threw away that 20 point lead. Mundy was superb last night and if he continues his level of improvement he will soon be classed as an elite midfielder. Sandilands is just sandilands.
I agree with kepler bradley, his transformation is exceptional and was impressive last night. Van berlo was also fantastic last night, you would take 4 goals from your small forwards anytime.
I have them top 4, only to succumb to a melbourne based side in a preliminary final, either the pies or the hawks.

Really shouldnt have won last night against a Bullies outfit that are nowhere near 100%, still have doubts away from home, although they are a very good side to watch at home.

For some reason I always rated Kepler Bradley before he lodged at the Dockers, must admit havent seen them on the telly this year yet but from what I hear they are ticking alot of the required boxes

Freo aren't 100% either. In fact, no club EVER is. Freo unbeaten on the road this season.

At this stage most people would be thinking their form is slipping in the traditional Freo way. Those people would be the ones who don't take any notice of the fact that they have only 25 players to choose from for this weekends clash with Port.
They are seriously talking about bringing back Mzungu from an 8 week knee injury without having any time in the WAFL.

Yep they are in deep trouble with Injuries at the moment as are Melbourne but the Demons have contributed to their downfall somewhat with a couple of suspensions, albiet one a very puzzling one.
