Made a bad call? Fess up here.

Forgive me Fonzie for I have sinned. For years I have watched this plodder running around in Red and Black struggling to hit the side of a barn whenever he plucked up the courage to actually kick the football. But when I watched the Essendon vs. Carlton game the other day I saw an emerging champion who possessed an awesome weapon whenever he disposed of the ball by foot and he was growing in confidence each time he used it. That Jobe Watson sure can kick a footy!

I was w...w...wr...w....WRONG!

LOL, I agree though ... the messiah has done wonders with Jobe.

I also can't get over how much Jobe sounds like his old man ...

I'm looking forward to Hirdy now feeding all the starving children in the world and solving the Middle East crisis ...

For years I lamented Richard Douglas' regular selection in our senior team.
Even after a best and fairest, I still slightly doubt him, but yep, the kid can actually play the game ok.
That hurts.

I was always quick to hammer Daisy Thomas for being a squib, but geez he's proved otherwise recently. Plays some tough footy nowadays and not far off being on of the league's elite players.

Wasnt AFL at the time BUT Nick Duigan

Boy did i let rip into him the day a very young Havelberg kicked his 14 goals of which at least 8 were on a 'hopeless', 'pathetic' Nick Duigan.

mmmmmmmmm now his in my fantasy football teams, goes alright doesnt he.

How times change.
Ones doing well with the big boys and one isnt good enough to make the transition.

Wouldnt say Havelbergs not good enough, just hasnt had the oppurtunity, mainly due to the high amount of injuries he has had.

Duigan is taking his oppurtunities though which is great for him and good luck to him for that.

TBH the style and era of AFL football which is being played now suits Duigan perfectly while Havelberg is probably a decade to late.

I admit i was wrong 18 years ago when i said a young ranga beanpole wouldnt last a year at essendon. Glad fletch proved me wrong and is a deadset legend on and off the field.
Funny thing is i mentioned it to him at club function once and he pissed himself laughing, he thought he wouldnt last the first quarter!!

Firat game I saw Ben Hart play was against West and Tim Symes kicked 8 goals on him and I thought "this kid is a hack, whats all the fuss over this kid". I soon found out.

Never rated and still don't rate Sydney's Ted Richards. I thought he was a spud at Essendon and he will be at the Swans but credit to him, he's made a fair fist of it.

I wonder how many old cricketers and enthusiasts bagged Warnie after a modest start to test cricket

After his first game at the Crows, where most fans were getting well ahead of themselves (99') a young bloke by the name of David Gallagher gave many (myself included) the impression that the Crows had found another young starlet .. Oops
