Not expecting much this week, our record against geelong is nothing short of horrible since our last win against them.

Motts and Hartlett come into the extended squad, with cassisi already out and p. stewart and pittard doubtful.

The club has recieved a boost this week with the announcement of 35,000 members on board for season 2011 which is a great result.

Still the cats will continue our misery and record a victory by 55+

I'm not too hopeful, with a bit of luck they play 4 competitive quarters. Playing Geelong in Geelong is still one of the hardest tasks in the AFL, I hope we get within 10 goals, i expect a loss within the 50 to 70 point range.

Will be good to see Hartlett back in the side, I also hope Motlop plays team footy, and contributes on the scoreboard.

Agreed. Surely if Salopek is fit, he is in the team, not an emergency!

I'd like to think we are a chance to really push Geelong, but my head says 12-15 goals.

That is true, though I think with any player of Mots ilk, you take the good with the bad.

Missed last week's game, which by all accounts was an absolute disgrace.

Despite getting pumped in round one, thought there were some positives.

I disagree, while no fun watching us get belted like that, Geelong simply dont lose at home. They have 12 or more 150+ game players with mature hard bodies, we have several first year players with much development to do.

Put simply, we are bottom 6, they are top 6. I expected little more and we all need to be realistic about season 2011.

Last year were 1 win out of the 8 and it was declared that anything less than making the finals this year was a failure so how are we bottom 6 then?
Agree, the way they are playing, Port are bottom 2 - 3 atm.

Of course not bcos geelong have been the benchmark team in recent seasons and have only played lowly sides at home. Mature hard bodies and we have several 1st year players? Im sure Port have some mature Hard bodies and geelong have a few young players as well.
It's simply unacceptable to make these excuses.
This is AFL, the TOP level of footy in the world. There is something seriously wrong with the comp if players are being selected at this level if they're not ready yet ! Thats what the SANFL, WAFL, VFL etc are for, to condition the players so they are ready otherwise the AFL needs to be reduced by about 8 teams so we dont see these matches of MEN v BOYS.
But then again, when do the AFL hierachy care about an even comp? Their agenda is to keep making more
$$$$ than the year before and to expand into areas that couldn't give a rats' about footy.
