3 - Sloane - Probably a 'hindsight' vote, but playing through with a broken thumb and fractured jaw, say no more really.
2 - Tambling - An excellent debut for his new club, and although he muffed things up a couple of times he was put in a consistent 4 quarter effort and went in hard for the footy (layed a great bump on the boundary late in the game too!)
1 - Dangerfield - Deserves a vote for his turning it around after half time in such dramatic fashion.
Unlucky - Davis & McKernan.
General observations from the game:
- After initially looking to be a shoe in for a ruck spot, Jacobs might now find it difficult. McKernan's versatility is a real plus, he can play forward, back & in the ruck. With the sub rule this is priceless.
- Good to see Vince up and about, I thought it would take him longer to find form.
- Injuries a concern, but Martin & Jaensch can come in for Sloane & McKay without too much impact IMO.
All in all really happy with the game, unlike last year I feel the players have made a real statement on how they will play out this season. No doubt they will have their ups and downs, but if they display that sort of intent every week then we are in for a good year.
