Melbourne Season 2011

Melbourne the big improvers in 2010, will hopefully continue there improvement up the ladder in 2011....

Really enjoy watching this club play, been to one of there lowest points in club history in last few years and there rebound is tremendous.

2011 will see them pushing the 8 i think.

FROM THE AFL SITE:

Melbourne will begin its campaign with a home game against the Sydney Swans at the MCG. The Demons have trips to play Gold Coast at the Gabba in round four and another trek to Perth to play West Coast in round six. But between these two games they have a bye.

As has been the case for a number of years, Melbourne will take on Collingwood on the Queen's Birthday holiday at the MCG. A month later, the Dees head north for a home game against Port Adelaide in Darwin.

Melbourne is fixtured to play in two Friday night games and one on a Thursday night, meaning the club has more free-to-air television exposure than in recent seasons.

6-9 for the dees

Melbourne have the makings of a cracking team, just waiting on a few things to happen for them at the moment. Grimes, Jones, Scully, Trengrove, Slyvia and Moloney and throw in Davey as well makes a pretty potent midfield. Add to the fact that have a good ruck combo in Jamar and co. So you would expect them to get plenty of the ball through the middle.
Up forward it seems Watts is starting to look like the player he has the potential to be and will start to get better as the season heads
along. It will be interesting to see how Pettard comes back and where Green spends most of his time this season.
Defence wise they are steady without been outstanding. I still believe they will struggle against teams that have 2 genuine big forwars but that is fairly rare so I'm expecting a fairly decent seasoon from Melbourne.
My prediction for this season is 6-9.

True, but they are an "affiliate" club and I dare say Melbourne would have little or no say in where those kids get played? ( I may stand corrected )

Bailey unfortunately needs to go. Some of their players looked clueless. It's not the first team and not the last team made look silly at Cat Park but 31 goals (to me) looked like they really weren't even having a dip.

Saw some of the game.........and yes at times were they having a dip? At times yes, but at other times no.

Still Geelong do have those days at times when they seem to go nuts and kick huge scores easily. I was going to say, they look better with Mooney up forward, but geez they looked good all over the ground.

And not worth it IMO... They have a few forward line players who can kick goals, players that they should build the next 5-10 years around, not a two or three year proposition in Fevola.

If Fevola was a Judd-like midfielder, then yes, because one of the bigger problems at Melbourne is not the lack of goal scoring options, but the simple inability to create goal scoring opportunities...

According to ABC Victoria (Coodabeen Champions) yesterday who were at Skilled Stadium Fevola looked disinterested and didn't chase.
Was dragged in 3rd quarter and also in the last quarter.
They were very disappointed and thought he might have shown a bit more as it was a curtain raiser to an AFL game and there would've been representatives of at least 2 AFL clubs present - unlike if the game was at Casey Stadium.
I wouldn't think he'd be worth the punt.
