Probably Scott Thompson or risk it on Dangerfield.

RW you obviously are from an elder generation. It was probably a nina pasadena shirt(buddy franklins brand) and youd struggle to find a shirt at Globalise that doesnt have a female in such a pose on it!
Get em out and Play on

Good Choice IMHO. Could have gone conservative with Rutten, or populist with Dangerfield. Could even have gone with a short term fix to try to use the captaincy as a lure to get a player over here. But I'm glad they went with the best available long term choice.

Remember we only see it from the outside, if you listen to all the feedback ie: interviews etc, they have always said NVB is a natural leader on the track and within the group. I believe being entrusted with the captaincy, that will turn him into an even more mature player and he will lift and have a great year for the crows.

I was a HUGE VB fan, always wanted him captain. Then when it was time for a new skipper, and he was appointed, I was underwhelmed, mainly due to his rather average season and the fact I thought he was stagnating as a footballer. But seeing him out there on Friday, I've changed my mind again, and I'm totally happy with him being captain. If he's fit he could hit carrer best form and I think he's someone who will thrive with the extra responsibility.

Been woeful, absolutely woeful, as a player and captain.
If he didn't play, you honestly wouldn't notice his absence.

All I saw him do tonight was miss that ball in the goal sqaure.

Why they didn't make scott thompson captain i don't know??
I guess we can't really know what goes on behind the scenes, and playing well is only one aspect to being the captain.
Although hard to be captain if you end up in the SANFL

Excellent article on VB by Nathan Bassett:
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/vb-leading-by-example/story-fn83zji2-1226099618624We only see a small part of the story on game day. He has done an admirable job with a struggling young side this year IMO.

Hmm, the article isn't really by Bassett it's almost entirely quoting an anonymous player -VB?
While the player is clearly impressed by VB (and probably has some valid points), most supporters would prefer to see him improve as a player (he would struggle to make a number of the comp's sides) and leave the captaincy to the obvious choice, Thompson.

The best player, or the most popular, is not necessarily the best Captain.

I'd rather see Thompson left to do what he does best without also having to cope with the responsibility of being captain.

People have such Simplistic views on things don’t the GN. Just because Thomo gets the most possessions for the team doesn’t mean he is the best 'Leader'. He wasn’t even in the Leadership group last year was he? Like you said GN let him do his thing and not have to worry about all and sundry.
People forget that these players spend more time with each other than most Families do. A leader must be switched on all the time and guide these lads through there development as a footballer both on and off the field!
