Rodan has second LARS done....

POWER midfielder David Rodan last night successfully underwent LARS ligament surgery for the second time on his injured left knee, after an arthroscope revealed that the original LARS ligament was frayed.

Rodan injured his knee at training on Friday and MRI scans at the time were inconclusive.

However an arthroscope late yesterday revealed the ligament was frayed and the surgeon decided to take a conservative approach and replace the ligament again.

Rodan is expected to undertake a similar rehabilitation program to his initial LARS procedure late last year.

Spewing. When fit David Rodan adds a certain dimension to Port's midfield / forward line that no other player does. He is dynamic, explosive and knows how to finish. His 2010, altough set back by LARS reconstructive surgery, was still worthy of mention as he shone on several occasions for us and I, along with many others, had been looking forward to him stepping up to another level in 2011. Bad luck Dave and I hope we see you back later in the year fit and firing.

On a side note, if the ligament inserted was now "frayed", what does that do for the thinking of others considering or just having had a reco done via the LARS method?

There was always an element of risk with this procedure.

Everyone who gets asked about LARS seems to be quite cautious in endorsing it.

Damn, that's a huge loss to start the season.

That would definately scare a few into avoiding LARS. But at the same time, how effective was the 1st ever knee recons?

Our captain & full back have both just had knee recons, but didn't choose the LARS which I think was a good choice.
Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.

Bad luck for Rodan. Booney you're right mate Rodan is the one Port bloke that really runs the lines. You'll miss him for sure.

Extremely bad news ...

Knees are unfortunately quite problematic ... I should know as mine are shot.

I'm sure this will flare up the conventional vs LARS argument but the fact is that multiple reconstructions aren't uncommon with conventional surgery.

I guess if he wants to continue his career he has no choice but to do what he has.

I wish him all the best in his rehab.

Wasn't suggesting it was bad management.

I'm far from sold on LARS and this is why.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Im sure Rodan's rehab didnt involve consuming 15 beers every Friday and Saturday night, and carving up the dancefloor at the Palais, like your mate has Piccachu...thats the difference, footy is nowhere near as gruelling as weekends with you blokes

David Rodan brings two things to the table, where I honestly consider him the BEST in the AFL...

1) Running bounces...

2) Changing direction via sidestep, whilst retaining full pace...

It's hard for me to admit, as I hate the Power, but I really enjoy watching him...

Bad luck for the lad...
