I know the Cats have been 5hite this season, one of our worst seasons ever. But if we lose to Port this week then that would rate with the Collingwood and West Coast games for disappointment for me because I reckon the smears are shot. So waddya reckon?

Cats by a couple of goals on their own litter tray.Port's season torn apart like Peter Burgoyne's hamstring and as many holes in our set up as Chad Cornes' lung.Too reliant on Tredrea who has clearly struggled to bounce back from successive knee injuries and a loss this week would make me think about giving him the remainder of the season off to get back to some where near 100% for next year.Brogan under pressure to perform this week after a couple of bumbling performances.Lade,Pearce,S.Burgoyne,Wakelin left to do too much.

Stuff this!

Port to cause an almighty upset down at Sleepy Hollow.

And snuff out the Catters finals hopes once and for all!

Port by less than a kick.

Confirmation that neither side deserves to play finals football.Scrappy game played in scrappy conditions that only in the last 10 minutes gathered enough steam to get the sleepy fans, err,I mean Sleepyhollow to come to life.

Chapman,Corey,Scarlett doing a job on their respective Power forwards (Dont rate Tredrea on today's performance,Scarlett gets away with handling him away from the ball each and every time they play and Warren is nowhere near full fitness, yet again playing under done.)Losing a dominant Brogan early on snuffing out any chance Port had of stealing a win.
Port takes something from the game with Surjan,Chaplin,Thompson,Logan and Pearce showing the youth have something to offer Port in the near future.Lonie once again displaying his enthusiasm to get involved in those crucial 1%'ers that all coaches love, chasing, tackling, sheparding and smothering.NOT! Get some heart.

Basically any team that takes 100+ minutes to halt the current Port Adelaide side missing Brogan,P.Burgoyne,C.Cornes,Dew,Cassisi and playing a half fit Tredrea will be like the stuffing shoved up a chooks ar5e come finals time, they'll be the first thing thrown out and nobody will remember who did it and what they looked like.

Geelong wins by 10

Real close, tight game and was probibly 50/50 almost all of the game.

Kane Cornes was the standout for Port getting 30+ touches with Salopek, Pearce, Chaplin and Motlop all playing good aswell.

who ever's decision it is to play tredders it's a disgraceful decision, he is doing absolutely no service to himself or the club.

i only watched the second half of today's game and tredders could not even get to the contest, his opponent took 4 uncontested marks in the last 1/4 alone

at this level you cannot hide a player who is half fit

Can't agree more mate.

Tredrea should be givin the year off. Its only a matter of time before he makes his knee worse and then he is really stuffed.

LMAO. What was that 50 for in the first quarter? Why didn't Mackie get a free when he was held and then crunched in the second quarter?? Every time you pointed at the maggots you got 50! Plenty of holding going on all around the ground and enough crap umpiring for everyone.

You are right about the rest of your summation tho..we aren't up to it and won't make the eight unless there is a hell of an improvement, remember both of last year's Grand Finalists were defeated by the current Power outfit. Mackie was shithouse and should never pull on the hoops again, Stokes has gone past him in half a year and Mackie has been at the club for a few years now. McCarthy may have bagged five last week but today showed plenty..he'll also be gone by season's end.

Is McCarthy a relative or desendant of John Klug?

Mackie looked ok REB,he was told to kick it into row 5.....

Game was won and lost in the third term - we needed to be a couple of goals up at three-quarter time to have any sort of chance.

Scrappy as the game was, it was probably the best we've played at the Cattery since our last win there in 2001.

Once again, more than happy with our young brigade - just wish we could fast forward to when they have 40-50 games under their belt.

With or without Tredders, our forward set-up is a mess. But when you've got Freddy McGuinneth as your forwards coach, what can you expect?

McCarthy may have bagged five last week but today showed plenty..he'll also be gone by season's end.

I'm guessing he isn't what Barry Oakley had in mind when he wrote 'A Salute to the Great McCarthy.'

Can think of one or two other salutes he's worthy of...

Yep, they'll need to hire some extra cleaners out at Cat park next year as a huge clean out will be underway. The 'word' around the (Cat) traps is that if Bomber doesn't get us into the eight this year he'll walk. The Cats have their eye on Derryn Cresswell who had a good rapport with the playing group. I reckon we should just swap with Port..could both be on a winner.

After watching most of the game on replay Im glad I went to Glenelg Oval yesterday, mind you for 3/4s I was saying the opposite at Glenelg Oval!
Nice work by the umps in the first quarter, WTF?

And congratulations to Michael Wilson who won the "Dive Like an Italian Soccer Player Award", he'd walk right into the Eyeties side with that beautiful acadamy award performance after Moondog gave him a tickle.

I thought Geelong played a shocking brand of football but full marks to Port they're even worse with this sideways backwards crap.

Port's forward line is not functioning well and someone at the club has to stand up over the selection of Warren Tredrea. As the commentators said, Port were outmarked twice in that last quarter which ended up sealing a tight game in the end. Joel Corey didn't even get off the ground for that second mark and Tredder's was right there. There has also been some talk about playing Chad if the game wasn't in Tassie next week (can't fly you see).

The season is over and Port has done well with a good selection of young kids. They should dig a bit deeper and rest Tredders and Cornes for maybe the rest of the season. White, Logan, Pearce, Symes, Salopek, Thomas and Surjan all looked ok to me yesterday and their pace had the Cats on the hop, that is, when they were 'allowed' to run.

I reckon if Port had backed themselves a bit more they could have won. Not too sure who they have on their list that could have taken Tredder's spot and the Brogan injury was decisive but they seemed to be a bit negative at times. Choco looked like he was trying to minimise damage at a time when they should have been having a crack.

As for us, No McCarthy or Mackie and maybe no Mooney or Ling next week but on Sunday's performance only one of those guys would be missed. I'd expect Playfair, Riccardi, Johnson and maybe *shudder* Kingsley to come in for them. As I said a week ago, if we can't beat the Dogs it's all over. You don't make the top eight by beating bottom (eight) teams and bottom teams alone.

REB

Not many teams have a back up on their list for a Tredrea REB,but I see where you are coming from.White can play out a CHF but I think prefers to play closer to goals, which is a little contradictory as he doesn't kick many goals.
Thurstans is out of form and favour and I would suggest he will be thrown up as traid bait come seasons end,if any one would be interested.
Chaplin is an interesting prospect as is White.I would like to see White tried in the CHB position and Chaplin given a free run up forward,he showed yesterday and at other stages this year he can find the ball but on the better CHF is a little loose and gets shown up at times.
