Aka to move.

Aka has decided to leave the Loins after this season and move, maybe to a Melbourne club. A club would have to give up 2 to 3 draft picks and/or a good player to get him.

Is he out of contract at seasons end?

Like many have said before, would it be worth it?
On one hand you have a brilliant footballer, capable of doing anything on his day, and will still be around to keep doing this for at least 3 to 4 more years.
On the other hand you have a sometimes loud-mouthed, undisciplined and big headed player who is probably not likely to get along with many team mates, let alone coaches.
Hard decision for a club to weigh up. I see on The Footy Show last night that James Hird said he would have no problems with Aker coming to Essendon, because he is a brilliant footballer. I think that is the best way a club should look at him, in terms of what he can do for their football department, which is what it really is all about.

No doubt North Adelaide will be talking to him.

What side will take a punt on him? This is what I see him as:
1:30 year old premiership player with much on field quality to offer.
2:A 30 year old premiership player who will command a high price,my guess $350k +
3:A disruptive 30 year old premiership player who would come to your club expecting lots of money (see above),lots of game time,an understanding of his character and the wish that you do not try to change him.
With all this in mind, recycling a 30 year old who has no doubt got some good football left in him,who would take him?
Essendon.Hang on,he has some good football left in him, couldnt be them.Kangaroos.Hang on,they couldnt afford him.Carlton? ahh yes,the perfect fit.

I'd think there are only certain clubs who would consider him, those that are around the money with what they have, trying to take (or re-take) that extra step .. Sydney and West Coast would have to be the two obvious candidates, but I really don't think any club is going to offer anything too appealing to the Lions for his services, his my earlier question concerning his contractual status ... Is he able to walk free into the draft if the Lions reject any offers (if they were forthcoming)??

Would you really want him at the Cats, good player but he obviously lives by his own rules and could be very destructive to any footy environment

does Aka have one year remaining on his contract ???
if so Aka would have to agree to a trade and the other party might want the lions to cover some of his salary
I have no doubt only a melb based club would be interested in him, and I think none of them will rule out the possibility as most melb base clubs have a history for chasing recycled or established players
Melb with Pickett, Collingwood with Morrissonand Wowoden, Kangas, Calton and Essendon with a cast of thousands, Cats with Ottens, Richmond with Nobel, Symonds, Stafford, Brown
I think Crows, Eagles and Swans will be a definite no and Port and Freo a maybe

The Geelong advertiser had an article about Geelong thinking of getting AKA. And as a geelong supporter i feel that he would be worth while for the cats to pick up. the guy has some issues in his head but he reminds me of Dennid Rodman he doe sthe job he is paid to do. The AFL needs players like AKA because if the AFL isn;t careful it will end up Stale like the NBA.
