http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl ... 5897003413THE Power's greatest player, Warren Tredrea, has played his final AFL game.
Key forward Tredrea the club's games and goals recordholder will announce his retirement at a press conference at Alberton Oval at noon tomorrow.
The 31-year-old, who hasn't played since suffering a serious ankle injury in the round seven clash against Essendon at Etihad Stadium, had been attempting to play again this year.
However with Port Adelaide out of finals contention, opting to rebuild with youth under new caretaker coach Matthew Primus and no guarantee he would get back, Tredrea has decided to pull the pin on his stellar career with five rounds remaining.
He is not interested in a farewell game, indicating it is better for the Power's future if it continues to play its kids.
Tredrea, 31, played 255 AFL games and kicked 549 goals in his 14-year AFL career.
He was the last remaining member of Port's inaugural AFL squad in 1997.
Tredrea, filling in for injured skipper Primus, captained the Power in its only grand final win in 2004.
He retires with more accomplishments than any other Power player, having won four club champion awards, being made an All-Australian four times and being Port's leading goalkicker on seven occasions.
Tredrea also captained the Power from 2006 to 2008.

Good on him for an outstanding career. Pity he didn't have the body that would of had him at his best for longer because his best was bloody good.
Well done Tredders.

Well done Tredders carried Port's front half for many years. Not my favourite player but he was a champion in his prime. I'd still rate Wangas in front of him as Port's best though. Well done on a fine career.
regards,
REB

An absolute champion bloke and super-star of the game. Many people will knock him for various reasons, OnSongs little jibe above for one, but from 2000-2004 he was the best CHF in the league.
Will be a huge loss for the side not having Big Wa down there to kick to but we are in a transition stage and it is time to move forward.
Well done Tredders, Port Adelaide boy from go to whoa and a champion of the game.

Great career Tredders! as has been mentioned, was the best CHF in the early 2000's. Hopefully stays on at port in some form of coaching/mentoring role...if our next CHF is half as good as what tredders was in his prime ill be a happy man.
Well played tredders!

Will remember his performance in the 96 sanfl gf vs centrals. Played 2nd fiddle to hodges for the day but as a 17yo in a league gf, kicking 2 and taking some great contested marks, was always going to be a great player

255 games.
549 goals.
All-Australian: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 (vice-captain)
AFL Norwich Rising Star Nomination: 1998
AFL Coaches Association 'Champion Player of the Year' Award: 2004
AFL Players Association 'Champion Player of the Year' Award: 2003 (3rd place), 2004 (3rd place)
John Cahill Medal: 2001, 2004, 2005, 2009
John Cahill Medal 'Runner-Up': 1999, 2002, 2003
Port Adelaide F.C. Captain: 2004, 2006–2008
Port Adelaide F.C. Life Membership: 2005 induction
Port Adelaide F.C. Leading Club Goalkicker award: 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009
Those numbers suggest he was much more than just a "good player". Keep in mind this is playing as a Centre Half Forward, widely regarded as the toughest spot on the ground to play.
