I think it will, too many heavyweights want it .. Might not be within the desired timeframe, but I think it will go ahead.

Wont go ahead. SA is similar to WA, just too many whingers who put their hands in, plans are drawn up, someone comes along with something else and the process starts again. By the time they piss fart around arguing, another government is voted in and they've got their own ideas or dont want to part with cash. In Victoria they just build the bloody thing.

Should've stayed the course with the Football Park redevelopment.

I'd say yes.

The simple facts are; no one will come up with the $1.5b for a new inner city stadium, no one will put money into AAMI (other than perhaps SANFL) and the AFL will start programming matches at Adelaide Oval in about 5 or 6 years time. The whole thing has been unfortunately politicised instead of recognising that there is a unique opportunity for two sports to provide security for their futures from grassroots to elite level in this state.

Yep, gone too far now to pull the plug. If it doesn't, you might find Foley, McLaughlin & Whicker hanging in one of those beautiful Moreton Bay trees at the Northern end. :Hangman: :Hangman: :Hangman:

I think the horse has bolted on this one and we are going to get the upgrade. There's now too much momentum to the project and too much damage has been done to the reputation of AAMI Stadium to turn back now. Plus the AFL are adamant it has to happen.

Voted yes.

It will go ahead as a lesser establishment.

And slowly over the next 100 years become what is someones dream....

It will not happen, playing 1 test match and 2 international 50 overs 1 dayers each year....

I truly doubt the crows will leave Footy Park...

EVER :D

The Power will.

As it should have been from the beginning... :D

Andrew has spoken, therefore it will go ahead.
If not, who knows what tantrum he might throw.

Good let them pay for it then. Would love to see what the AFL did if it didn't happen.

1 I fixed my spelling mistake!

2 you want the AFL to have an ownership stake in Adelaide Oval? Not sure about that.

Did I say that ? Demitriou does nothing except pump up his own tyres. Any chance to sprout off about the AFL and they're onto.

Let the SACA and the SANFL work it out between themselves first and foremost.

No you didn't say it. But would that be the end result if the AFL paid the $530m? I'm not sure but I'm sure a lot of people who say it don't think about this possibility. They'll own everything soon. Surely the state govt should be the ones funding the bulk of what would be the main sporting stadium in this state. The spin offs back to state should be large. We don't want to be sharing that with the AFL any more than we do currently.

I agree with your last point BTW.

I'd think it'd go ahead but I reckon there's a fair rift forming between the AFL and SANFL. Demitriou is presenting himself to the Govt. as a spokesperson for the SANFL, Whicker is saying that Demitriou/AFL aren't a spokesperson for the SANFL and making it very clear.

I gave it the yes vote.

I think the Govt has gotten it's self in pretty deep, if they don't go ahead now, the Libs will certainly push their plan onto us, The AFL will throw a wobbly and give both the Crows and Power no favours in either the draw or future support.

Personally I think the SACA should stand alone, Footy Park be finished the way it was originally planned, everything is in place for the original concept to be finalised, Footy Park was designed to stand for 50 years and seat 85,000 people, whather a roof could be incorforated is another matter, maybe not in the life time of the current building tho.
