With the development of some younger players and the retirement of some older players, i thought i would have a crack at a team for Round 1 2011... this is on the proviso that all players are fit and not traded etc (naturally the players will play different roles but the individual players selection is the issue here, not their position)

McLeod will play on.
Douglas definite starting 18 every week.
Good line up though. We'll be up there next year.

Good work FS.
I agree that McLeod will play on, would swap him with Petrenko, Douglas with Jaensch and Otten with Symes to make use of his superior disposal across half back.

So u saying there'll be no Stevens or Doughty in 2011 FS ?
I have suspicions that there'll be no N.Bock so we may need someone else on that half back line....

I dont see a role for Dogga or Radar going forward, Radar maybe as a stronger body around the footy or across HB as Otten would have played more in the midfield this year and he may puch into a rotation in 2011.
Stevo, could possibly sneak on the bench but the improvement of Griffin the ruck means Tipp stays at CHF and the 'swing man' stevo isnt really required in the perfect world (no injuries)
Agreed N Bock is a chance to leave however, I think he will stay.

And to be extra picky I'd have Knights on the other flank as the left footer

JOG ON ZORRO
As i said, its not so much about the positions its the players that will make up the team. It looks good on paper i must admit.... just need to get that team on the park!

Looks a good team.
However Doughty is contracted. Reilly, stevens will play.
have serious doubts about mcleod. do you reckon they can risk keeping him on?

I think he will decide based on how his knee recovers and feels. If it takes longer than expected, i think he will hang them up.

I like Schmidt over symes in a BP. Symes like Thompson burns the ball a lot, Thompson is just the in and under sort of player we need.
I would be starting Douglas on the HF over Jaensch, atm Douglas offers a little more flexibility (although it will be easy to become a massive fan of jaensch)
Being picky I would swap Davis and Bock unless Davis bulks up quite a bit over summer. My thoughts anyway.

I think Schmidt was servicable in the games he played, but he isnt anywhere near Symes. Symes doesnt really burn the ball that much, he has some highlighted cases but isnt that bad! his ability to run and carry is important to the team.

Also with the development of Henderson in the last few weeks, where does he stand in the 2010 team selections?
IMO I think he offers alot and when he gets his contested marking up to standard, he will be great value next to Tip Daddy and Tex. I think he will play as the 2nd medium size froward(with Tex) as his pace allows him to provide pressure on defenders running the ball out and his kicking seems pretty good also.
What will impact his selection is midfield rotations (other players swapping, bench to midfield) and there could also be a spot on a HBF for him if Bock leaves as his pace and ball use could be very handy along with his height

Pretty much 100% agree with this team FS. If Davis can hold down CHB it would be great for the crows defence to have Bock providing the rebounding. There will be the odd occasions against Jono Brown, Riewoldt etc that Bock might have to play CHB until Davis bulks up but wont be the norm. I dont see a spot for Radar or Doughty either, more so Doughty who will be taking Sloane/Schmidt/Armstrong/Petrenko/Cook/Gunston position. Think Stevens needs to stay on the list but Moran may not be required if Stevens, Sellar, McKernan, even Young and Talia and possibly Hentschel providing CHF/CHB backup.

Obviously too soon to include him as a certainty, or with any degree of confidence I guess, but I've been ultra impressed with Henderson and reckon the Crows have a great prospect on their hands there.
Might also need to pull Porplyzia out of the pocket and add to the onball brigade for a bit of a bolster.
Fast tracking the development of depth players becomes quite crucial at West Lakes (although I guess that's the same at any club)

Since this thread was started, Henderson is certain starter for 2011 IMO he has pace and adds great value pushing up the ground off a HFF and running back towards goal.
Martin and Otten will come back into the midfield, and we may see Porps push back to a HBF like he has in the last few weeks.

I know Symes is in the leadership group but i think he burns the ball too much.
I think Bocky is gone and i hope the crows get what they deserve for him and i truely hope McLeod goes on next year.
Listening to 5AA yesterday and a caller rang up suggesting Stiffy as the captain next year, could be a reasonable move i reckon

I'm still not convinced Walker is earning his keep consistently enough to be relied on as a key position player.
I agree he has a lot of raw talent, but he still makes too many wrong choices and slow decisions.
I'd also think about moving Johncock out to the HBF, taking McLeod's, role and perhaps Reilly or VB in the back pocket.
Bock has shown enough signs of recovery to be worth keeping as CHB if a reasonable deal can be made to do so.
