A few people on 5AA after yesterday's game highlighted Chad Cornes' form this season and it isnt hard to notice his distinct lack of impact in a game this season.
Is he playing injured? or has the game gone past him?

His form "slump" may have something to do with some off his off field lifestyle choices?

He played well in past seasons because he never had to be responsible for an opposition player, just floated freely about half-back. Now he's having to be accountable and can't get a touch.

Q i think he has been one of the most unaccountable players in the AFL for almost his entire career in regards to matching up, but most teams employ the loose man tactic and you cant blame him for being the one the coach believes can do that role. It isnt the easiest role as you need to be in the right places etc etc and he does it well
IMO the game has caught him and like you said he has to now be accountable. I dont think its gone past him yet, but time will tell if he continually cant have an impact on the game this year.

I love the Chad, up there with Williams in helping Port evolve into a laughing stock.
Stick around please Chad!

I fully agree with you on your first point - having a bloke that can make quick risk assessments in regard to his zoning off is invaluable. He did it as well as anyone.
Now it's almost like he's forgotten how to play man-on-man football + get his own touches, because he didn't have to do it for so long.

Yes well that may have something to do with his form at present. Other than that, I will make no other comment so you can take that how ever you read it!

Do you have confidence in the source of this information or is just another "water cooler" rumour that has as much substance as a Lady Gaga tune?

Booney dont get defensive i wasnt referring in the first instance that he was doing anything wrong (sorry of this was not clear). Actually he often rings younger blokes and asks if they want to go for a quiet beer and talk about how there going etc. which is great. When i was told this by a reliable source, I was suprised as i saw Kane as the Cornes brother that would do this. I do not think that his drinking is effecting his game, i think the game is just catching up to him. He would be about 30yo wouldnt he?
The reason for my bracketed comment was purely tongue in cheek.
