Apparently not allowed to have a 'send off game', if true, terrible form from the club. Absolute champion player and bloke (had the pleasure of meeting him a few times). Granted not playing well this season, but surely 'runs on the board' comes into it.

Adelaide’s Tyson Edwards has today announced his retirement, effective immediately.

Edwards, 33, has played 320 AFL games for Adelaide in 16 seasons with the Club. He played in the 1997 and 1998 premierships, finished Club Champion runner-up three times (2002, 2003, 2006) and finished third in 2004.

He was drafted from West Adelaide in the 1995 pre-season draft and made his Crows debut in round 11 of the same year.

Crows chief executive officer Steven Trigg said: “Tyson has been one of the all-time greats of the AFL. He will be remembered for an extraordinary impact on our Club, as a player of incredible consistency, durability and talent. We’ve been very privileged to have had Tyson at the Adelaide Football Club.

“He has been exemplary in everything he’s done, and as a 300-game player, and with two premierships - he’s not only one of the competition’s all-time best players; but a much loved person to many people in our Club. We wish him, Mandy and the boys all the very best for the future.”

Edwards will speak to the media on Friday at 9am at the Adelaide Football Club.

I smell a rat.... :?

No send off game? 2 legends in 2 days?

Me has a feeling Humpty Dumpty was pushed and immediate resignation is covering for an increasing unpopular coaches move... the least you would think that this parting isn't amicable...

and maybe I'm just being a conspiracy theorist ;)

T.Edwards - the most under-rated player ever and probably my all-time favourite Crow. All the best to him...

I would have thought (hoped!) that Burton would have gone before either of Edwards and Goodwin.

Agree with everything Footy Chick posted, Tyson Edwards was a great player through and through. My mail is that there maybe another 2 players go before the weekend as well, but well done to Tyson on a great career

Agree with FC,

I believe one of the most consistant crows players we've ever had,
Given alot to the team-
Surely to goodness we/they could have given him one more game as a 'send off' :(

Had a stellar year last year. How quickly people forget. At least deserves a tribute game. He's a 300 gamer FFS!

It appears the Head Honcho's have wilted under the supporter backlash and pressure.
Pity for Tyson that the groundswell of support toward him forced their hand!

While he rarely had his name up in lights, he was a consistent, reliable player for the Crows throughout his career. You always knew he would give 100% to the team, and always put the team first.

Also, has anyone read some of the comments left on AdelaideNow and BigFooty - I'm disgusted by some of these comments about Edwards being called a 'cry baby' and a 'dummy spitter'.
