Three players suspended

Three Adelaide players have been suspended from the AFL for one week.

Bernie Vince, Matthew Jaensch and Graham Johncock will not be available for AFL selection this week.

The suspensions - for breaching training and preparation standards - were recommended by the senior leadership group and endorsed by the senior coach and selection committee.

All three players will be available to play in the SANFL. If Johncock is not fit to play this weekend, his suspension will be held over until he is available.

not too smart by Matthew Jaensch, he almost didnt get drafted because of his off field troubles before the under 18s

Is this Jaensch second offence of this nature since he was 17.

Sometimes talent can only take you so far.

not surprised Johncock was involved and his commitment has to be questioned after several sightings of him on the gas. He seems to get away with a lot.
Wouldnt worry me if they left him out for good. It would be 5 less turnovers in the backline.

what happened to his 2008 'lifestyle programme' ?

Whats the point in suspending players from AFL duty but still letting them play SANFL.

Not sure, but I don't have a problem with it given Norwood have the bye.

Because they wouldn't be guarenteed to be straight back in the week after their suspension. If they go back to their SANFL team and show the application they require then that would justify them being selected following the suspension. If they don't play then surely they wouldn't be a walk up start in the week following (thus effectively becoming a longer than one week suspesion in essence) as they wouldn't have been able to prove that they have the commitment to show they should be back in.

Wouldn't not playing at all make it even harder for them to get back into the side.
Punishment seems a tad soft imho. Especially considering the Crows are only playing for pride. I think they had a chance here to set a really good standard to the rest of the squad but 1 week pfft, especially after such an insipid performace, these 3 as well aren't especially on fire at the moment and should probably be trying to do all the right things to avoid being dropped.

The thing is that none of us know what they've actually done so we have no idea what the punishment should or shouldn't be. Everybody has been assuming it's alcohol related (including the media) when the noises that are filtering through to me are that it wasn't.
Not sure we should be speculating this much until we know exactly what the players have done.

True,

but have heard from a family member who live in Melbourne it was DEFINATLY alcohol related.
