TBH, I agree with the stance of the AFL, but I agree it's a bit draconian.
If you take that aspect out of the clubs completely, then you take that aspect away so that it doesn't/shouldn't compromise the outcome of any game.

This article sums up the so called betting scandel and the AFL very well, FFS, at worst the largest penalty should be a reprimand, most should have been dismissed as less than trivial.
Thank f*** they only run footy, not the whole country!!

As a slight aside, the Brownlow Medal votes from the round eight Melbourne v West Coast match were not submitted on time and a search has failed to uncover the original votes:
