I caught the end of the opening story on the news. What did they say about Power players gambling?

As much as i would love to stick the boots in here, its a storm in a teacup. Happened 14 months ago, involves a $20 bet placed on a pre-season game that Port wasnt involved in, by a punters club that Matty Primus may or may not have been part of.
Load of cr@p, media beat up.

Some player allegedly had a multi on a pre season game in 2009 (semi final NAB cup) NOT with his team, and two other legs on EPL games. Club is investigating.

I think the investigation should start with the 2008 granny.
Could some players had had line bets on the Cats -60.5?

I say strip them of their premiership, take away all their points for this year and fine the club plenty.

Absolutley laughable the AFL wastes time and money investigating this sort of trivial S**T

Matty Primus will be sanctioned as the lap-top used to place the bet was in his name
im disappointed that they havent mentioned whether it was a winner or not

Goody was slugged $40,000 for $16,000 worth of bets so therefore Primus should be fined $50 for his $20 punt... simple really...

It really does seem rather trivial.
I can't see the problem about players having the odd bet on games not involving their own team.
There would be a need to watch for situations, indirectly involving their own team, that might create temptation to throw games to affect another team's ladder position.

I guess the issue is them knowing a mate from an opposition isnt playing before hand getting fixed odds etc etc

also player disposal betting
if players not involved in the game know the match ups, then they can find the value in the market

It was the 2009 NAB semi final between Geelong and Carlton. Geelong was the winner by 17 points
FFS Matty

, you should know you cannot bet on AFL matches so why do it?
