Geelong's Mathew Stokes has had a charge of drug trafficking dropped by prosecutors, but is expected to plead guilty to possessing cocaine today.

Stokes had been alleged to have trafficked one gram of cocaine when he bought the drug for a friend in February.

But after the 25-year-old's lawyer said he would be willing to plead guilty to possession if the trafficking charges were dropped, the prosecutors agreed to withdraw the charge.

Stokes's lawyer has told the court the player, who has no prior conviction, should be released without conviction.

Good news, if he was found guilty of trafficking I would have wanted him sacked. Get him back in the team now!

Damm straight. We need some defensive pressure in the forward 50 because we've got Johnno going around at half rat power and Hawkins doing an Anthony Rocca impersonation. We can revert to our traditional structure and the manchild can hopefully boot a few in the magoos until he gets some confidence back.

So by admitting he wasn't trafficking mean he had it for personal use ? Cant have it both ways.

I think he was charged with possession. Possession doesn't necessarily mean it is for personal use.

Sure, heaps of people carry cocaine around just to have something in their pockets to play with.

if ya not selling it (trafficking), and not using it, then why else would you have it?

I don't care to be honest. I just want him back in the team asap. It's all been dealt with by the courts. Let's move on.

No but the possession itself means he knows where to buy it from experience. So, he either uses it or traffics it.
Copping a plea and getting the charge dropped not prove he is not a dealer either.

You can argue until the cows come home, it isn't going to mean diddly squat. It's been dealt with. He's going ot be handy too when he comes back. He will have a big point to prove to the team and that is going to be good news for us Geelong supporters.

I think you mean it has been hushed up as quickly and quietly as possible.
Let's wait for the next stage, when it develops within the club, and is eventually revealed like with that other guy whose pattern was hidden at the Illegals...

It's Geelong, apparently they have dealt with it ( ) and we can all move on.

Now to go and check the double standards....
