Who was your footy hero growing up?

Postby Turbo » Mon Apr 12, 2010 11:53 am

Was having a chat over the weekend about your footy heroes growing up as a young kid. I'm pretty sure there has been a similar thread in the past so apologies if this is the case.

The first player I admired as a youngster was Trevor Barker and I guess this was because of his spectacular marking. I guess I never went on to support the Saints cos they were often at the bottom of the ladder during this era and The Blues were often top. Can I change back?

My other hero was Gary Ablett Sr. Best player I have seen.

Great thread!

Mine was Paul Roos. Loved watching that flowing mullet coming out from full back.
Later on it was Chris Johnson and I've tried to model my own game on his.

SANFL: Paul Bagshaw, Rick Davies.

No one from the VFL.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Tony Hall for me too.

Think I'll watch the 86 GF tonight and remember the good ol' days.

He was also a teller at the local bank. Mum was always rapt when she got served by him.
