Chris Judd on the Footy Show

Postby stun72 » Fri Mar 12, 2010 11:40 am

What were your thoughts on Chris Judd's appearance on the Footy Show last night?

I thought he was a bit smug and blasé.

I agree with him that he couldn't be looking after the players at 4am in the morning etc. and that they are all adults.

He looked uncomfortable throughout the interview and didn't like the comment regarding problems at West Coast and at Carlton while he has been Captain, however he should've known those questions were going to be bought up.

There is no doubt he is a great footballer, maybe not a Captain.

You have to wonder why he was ever appointed captain but perhaps there wasnt much of a choice. He is an obvious leader on the field but not off the field.

Exactly ! The bloke is a class act, most importantly he leads the Blues on the field and is still a very good leader off it. He leads by example, and cant be expected to be held accountable for every stupid thing his team mates do.

One of the best skippers in the league, IMO.

He is an outstanding footballer, but evidence of poor off field leadership is starting to mount against him. He has openly stated in the past that he is not comfortable with the role model aspect of being an AFL footballer, perhaps that is an indicator of his real leadership abilities.

Well he's played in all the premierships he's ever going to, that's one thing.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Seems the trend amongst most clubs, at all levels, is to appoint their best players as captain, as you could never risk dropping your captain, but in reality, the spiritual leader who should be captain but may lack the talent is overlooked.

Sure actions speak volumes on the field, but the most kicks doesn't equate to things like one per centers!

In this case, with Juddy being the No.1 contested possession footballer in the League, IMO he is the perfect captain.

I dont think this is the case at all.

Geelong: Ling - clearly not their best player
Ess: Watson - not sure who is better, maybe best of a bad bunch
Syd: Kirk - not better than Goodes
Bulldogs: Johnson - good but not better than Cooney, Griffin, etc.
Port: Cassisi - not their best but is consistent
etc.
