Interesting to read the other day, 2 1/2 weeks after his LARS synthetic ligament procedure, that he's moving with the freedom of someone who would be 5 months into a standard knee recon rehab. Good to hear that the Power have been in touch with Sydney's medicos to learn from Malceski's experiences with the same revolutionary procedure. I'm sure that will only be a good thing, this sort of freedom of information between clubs regarding rehab of players.

Port would be hoping it works!
That 3 year contract did seem a lot at the time, more now I'd suggest

Perhaps, if he doesn't recover fully, Port will be paying him the play for Norwood for the rest of his contract... 8)

That would be good for Norward as we would start to win a few maybe ;)

Still its a long way back from knees, and Port will miss him around the ball, he speed and ability to break the lines is something very useful.

Will be back in action before the mid-season break, great recovery!

Hopefully he will play some decent footy when he returns, unlike Malceski.

From the Addie:

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/redleg-return-for-bionic-man/story-e6frecj3-1225847313552

DAVID Rodan will make a sensational return to football on Thursday night.

Barring a setback at training, Port Adelaide's new "Bionic Man" will line up for Norwood's reserves in the SANFL clash against South Adelaide at Coopers Stadium on April Fool's Day, just 106 days after having his left knee radically rebuilt.

"He's ready to go, so there's no point holding him back any longer," Power football operations manager Peter Rohde said.

"The surgery he had to his knee has come along very well and we can't find a reason not to play him now because he's done everything asked of him. He's been doing contact training for three weeks, he's done a lot of game simulation stuff and he's reported no problems. He's confident in the knee, so it's time to let him loose."

Port will take hard-running midfielder Rodan off its long-term injury list in the next 24 hours, paving the way for his return.

Rodan's return comes less than four months after he crashed to the turf during a regulation training drill at Alberton Oval on December 16.

Rather than have a common knee reconstruction that would have sidelined him for 12 months, Rodan, 26, opted for revolutionary knee surgery (LARS) to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

The procedure involved inserting an industrial-strength synthetic fibre into the joint.

Only Sydney's Nick Malceski, who had similar surgery two years ago, has returned to action quicker. He played just 12 weeks after his knee buckled underneath him.

The Power wants to limit Rodan's game time on his return, meaning he'll likely play reserves rather than be thrown straight into league combat.

"It's up to Norwood where he plays but David will have restrictions on how long he can play, so that will probably mean he'd come back through the reserves," Rohde said. "We'd be expecting him to play only a half-to-three quarters."

Awesome news!!

Getting back into the game quick does not necessarily equal "kick ass" from a medical perspective.
It's all the SANFL's fault.
