Brodie Martin will have a knee reconstruction after scans revealed a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Martin, 20, made his AFL debut against St Kilda in round 16 after being upgraded from the rookie list. He hurt his knee during his second AFL game on Sunday.

Club doctor Andrew Potter said: “The knee was swollen on Monday morning and very sore, prompting further investigation with an X-ray and MRI scan.

“There was no evidence during the game as to the extent of the injury. The knee felt stable, he was able to run, and Brodie told us he felt okay. It is quite unusual for a player to be able to continue to play with this sort of injury.”

Bad luck for the kid as he was just showing that he is capable of playing in the AFL and being a solid contributor for the Crows....

Poor lad, he looked like he had the potential to be an absolute star.
I saw him do it, looked a bit awkward but he ran it off and was fine after a few strides.

a rough start for someone starting out in the AFL. Hopefully he can come back well from it.
