Cats w/no players vs. Crows...can you win it?

No Taylor and No Scarlett is huge for Geelong. Add to that Harley appears to be pretty much on his last legs and Hunt is out for the year and Egan's career is over that leaves our backline looking a bit threadbare.
Geelong will use Lonergan who did OK down back and I reckon young Gilles will be recalled and once again Joel Corey and Corey Enright will help out Andrew Mackie down back but you Blackbirds must be licking your lips with the Birdman back in the Avary.
So how confident are you guys? This match means much more to you than it does to us. Win at Cat Park and that's four points that Collingwood and The Bulldogs won't get as by Round 21 when we take on the Bullies we'll (hopefully) have not only Scarlo and Harry but Otto as well.
If you are fair dinkum, you'll win it.

REB

If Adelaide can go close to breaking even in the midfield then the undermanned Geelong backline should be punished by the crows forwards. I still think the Crows will find it hard to beat the cats over at KP.

its very hard to win down at the cattery even when Geelong are crap. it has been 23 months sice Geelong last lost down there. the crows have not won there since 03 and there record is 3/10. but i remember a game in 05 when Geelong beat the crows by 4 points it was a cracker. hopefully saturday is the same
crows are a chance, but have to stop Ablett, Corey and Selwood

Will be won and lost in the midfield. They still have the edge on us in that department, unfortunately.

Edwards back is a big in for us and will help with the midfield battle. I wouldn't be suprised to see Walker back in the lineup depending on how Otten and Martin pull up, could come in for one of those two.
Even without Walker, Tippett and the Birdman could be a handfull for the undermanned Geelong defense.
The fact that it's at Cat park is the problem for me.
I will be tipping the Cats but believe we are a reasonable chance to cause an upset.

+ Porps, don't think they'll have an adequate match-up for him.

lol. Gees, how nice is it to even suggest that we have a forward line that might be able to 'punish' someone. Been a long time since we could even entertain the thought .....

Even though Geelong are quite undermanned it will still be a huge task. Their midfield is the best in the competition, ours very inconsistent. I'd put Goodwin on ball for longer periods this week as I noticed he spent soome time there against Port, perhaps in preparation?
We do have a slight chance though and I'd be bringing back Walker to further exploit their weakened defence.

i'm with REB on this one..
Bartel was moving like a MACK truck, his turning circle and chases were non-existant..
He's not fit / Taylor and Scarlett out... added to the others...
Steve Johnson in doubt.. Ablett not moving 100%...
Geelong with nothing to play for.. Adel chasing a TOP 4 spot and wanting to prove the Saints game was just a bad one...
Bock Choi's 100th game...
If ever we are going to beat this Geelong team, this is the week.. +27.5 will probably be the line, so might also be worth a go @ $1.90..

Trying to deflect the spotlight off your mob eh REB?
You guys look set to go in with your gun midfield intact and Steve Johnson supposedly coming back. You'd think that is enough to account for a developing Adelaide at home, where we haven't beaten you in yonks. Having said that...got a feeling we will push it this week. Geelong by 21 points.

I still rate Geelong as the benchmark this year and I just don't think we are good enough to get close to them on their home ground even though they are undermanned.
That midfield is too good to stop. I think we usually let Ablett go and try to stop Selwood and Bartel and then he carves us up.

Another option...... but takling to someone who is close to the club i think they are really keen to get Davis a debut. Walker knows what he needs to do kicking a lazy 7 in the SANFL against the Panthers is nothing to write home about. He laid 3 tackles i think on the weekend but seems to still be only doing what he wants to in the SANFL even though he is 2 or 3 classes above the rest of the players.....
His time will come.
Stevens with only 5 touches against the power and playing 90% of the game on the ground needs to lift hahaha maybe defence would be good for him to get hsi hands on it. Personally i dont think we really need Stevens as that swing man from defence to attack now our forward line has tippet, burton, porpas and knights (might as well play walker)

The Cats do have something to play for as it is Dasher's 150th game for the club. He doesn't say much ol Dash but the boys love him. As for Bartel, he probably hadn't fully overcome that injury from slamming into the goalpost at the Gabba.
As for Tex Walker. Quite clearly the Cows should never play him again and he should remain with the Redlegs.

Tlaking about Davis, Neil Craig just happened to be at the eagles north game last weekend. checking out davis? maybe Hentschel? could be right with a Davis debut

Davis isn't named as an emergency, so if anyone I would back Walker or maybe Armstrong to come in?
Depends if or who they take as a travelling emergency.

If you dominate the midfield then the ball does not enter your backline.
But being serious there is that chance for adelaide if they can just hold firm in the middle and get some ball up forward then adelaide are in with a real chance.
