swinging the axe

Postby Sorry Dude » Tue Jul 07, 2009 12:03 pm

IF YOUR team is not in flag contention, it's time to start looking at who should be cut at season's end. Debate it with Robbo at midday.

This year's draft is the last one to be uncompromised before the Gold Coast gets the pick of the best young talent. So, delistings will be more important that ever.

just saw this on the adelaide now website and thought i would put it out there to see what people think about there or other clubs, regarding names that could be on there last legs or used as traid bait?

If I was Michael Voss, I'd be getting rid of Travis Johnstone, Jamie Charman and Tim Notting.

Channel ten should seriously swing the axe through these three - Matt Campbell, Liam Pickering and Glen Jackovich. Three of the most boring commentators ive ever listened too last night crows v freo, seriously ive gotten more excited watching the back lawn grow!!!!

Channel 10 can do naff all about those three, they are employed by FOX. AS per the TV rights deal Channel 10 was simply taking the FOX feed, which is why on FOX last night you could watch Adelaide v Freo and if that game was boring and you fancied watching footy on channel 10 you could watch Adelaide and Freo too, hey Dutchy.... 8) :D
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Whilst these three are all on the poor to very poor side of AFL commentators, they work for fox and not channel 10. If channel ten are culling get rid of Michael Christian, absolutely horrible

I know Port's not my team - but once again, I say Danyal Pearce.

From the Crows, I reckon Brent Reilly's a chance to be traded.

Was good last year (as so many are in their 1st year at a new club) and for maybe the first handful this year, but has been pretty disappointing since ... Not saying he should be moved along, but it could be on the cards unless he can re-capture his form and play near his best.

Geez from what I saw today Burgoyne, Lade and Westoff shouldnt be playing next year, the first 2 have had great careers but the game has past them....Westoff just doesnt look interested

What is the succession plan for the Rucks at the Power?

A lot of prayer, unfortunately.

Redden and Lobbe have a bit of potential but are probably at least 2 years off being competitive AFL footballers. There may have to be a scenario where the club drafts a mature aged ruckman such as Meiklejohn, or a trade being done to get a fringe ruckman from another club.

Re Peter Burgoyne, I've been hoping for the last 6 weeks he'd be dropped and never play for the club again. Westhoff is a third string tall who shouldn't be expected to play as a key forward. He'll stay on the list but needs to be more consistent on a week to week basis (a couple of extra kilograms would come in handy too).

Ive been saying since last year that P. Burgoyne needs to go ... Ladey unfortunately, has just run into father time ... The Hoff will be fine I reckon.

(Disclaimer: First 2 have been great servants for the club and Im certain the 3rd will be a very very good player too)

Um - isn't it wielding the axe?

- what does swinging the axe mean for @#$&(&%'s sake?

... any way there are only two in this category - Marks Williams & Harvey (both Sheedy prodigies).

I can't see Sloane being delisted or traded for that matter. Armstrong just re-signed i believe a week or so ago. Gallman and Gill i think will be let go by the AFC. Reilly will stay unless a trade is organised, but unlikely. The main issue will be whether or not the "big 3" retire, may be that McLeod retires, thereby solving the problem for those making the Crows list decisions.

ok DUDE we just make sayings up then 8)

so if I was "swinging the tomahawk" there is no way I would put James Sellar, Tony Armstrong, Rory Sloane or Simon Goodwin on the "chocolate box" - sorry DUDE you know I meant chopping block

Craigy loves Sloaney and you don't have to be a rocker scientologist (sorry I actually meant rocket scientist) to realise that you will not pick up another Sellar or Goodwin in the next two drafts so why on Pluto (he he I meant Earth) would you delist either of them now?
