Undecided at this stage..
Initially, he looked reasonably good, but he has proved to be a bit injury prone and his form has dropped off because of missed games.
I'll wait and see how the rest of his season goes.

I think he does his job and has filled a gab in the squad..... He does what he has to, makes a few mistakes but most players do.
I think he has been worth it

I recall making this point before, how does he differ from Martin Mattner?
For mine, I'd have Mattner over Symes.

Probably better defensively than Mattner, Marty also had a patch where he really struggled and subsequently got dropped. Seems to have found some form once he has moved to sydney but still hasnt setthe world on fire

I'd have Symes over Mattner based only on form with the Crows - less bad disposals overall.

Mattner over Symes any day !!!
Any time he did get dropped at least he came and played for us
In all seroiusness though Mattner was asked to play a role he was not suited to at all by Mummbles thus him having a form slumps !!!
Now Sydney have him and not us !!!

Mattner (one-sided and too much indecision) vs Symes (slightly unco and ordinary disposal)
Kind of line ball really.
I'd probably favour Mattner slightly with his superior pace.
Symes is an 'honest tryer', but I'm never too confident about his skills and decision making.

Marty has done really well since being at Sydney, I think he came 3rd in their b&f last year and seems to be holding his form this year, Symes has been servicable. I've always thought Adel prepped and developed their junior players pretty well but I reckon they slipped with Mattner

It sounds like Marty just didn't click with the system NC wanted and that can happen with a particular coach-player relationship.
Sometimes players need a change of scenery and Marty has said he responds better to Paul Roos. That's not to say every Crows player would be better of in Sydney. The last 7 weeks have shown that many Crows players respond very well to NC's style. Just not Marty ....
The jury's out on this trade however Symes has age on his side. Marty was great last year but not so great this year for Sydney. Clangers and consistency were Marty's weaknesses in Adelaide. I think Symes has shown enough so far to give some optimism for the future. The trade reflects where both guys probably are realistically - 2nd / 3rd round draft pick players.
