Just heard that Sydney record breaker and premiership player Mick O'Laughlin is set to announce his retirement for the end of the season.
Well done on a wonderful career Mick.

when talking about the best indigenous players he rarely gets a mention..............should he?
Has been a good player over a long time but he definitely isn't in the Mcleod, Wanganeen, Goodes class of players IMO.

Dunno, I reckon he would fit comfortably in that group

We could start another topic on this but would he be in your top 10 all time indigenous players? I'm not sure he'd be in mine. Still a very good player though.

No way is he in this class, but brilliant on his day all the same.

Used to play against Mick when he was at Salisbury North and played with him at Central District U/17's (in 93, I think). Was always a class above everyone in the juniors and I think I remember he used to play 2 to 3 games a weekend for S. North, playing in higher grades then we played against eachother in.
Top quality bloke back then and i'm sure he still would be. Congrats on your great career Micky O.

Voice - you'll have to PM me and tell me who you are. I also played with Mick at Centrals in 93.
I also remember he played some of his early games at Elizabeth too, before he transferred to the Hawks scum

No way. Quality player but he would be on the tier below the champions amber fluid listed.

Don't agree with that. There was a time when, if given the choice, I would have chosen O'Loughlin for my team ahead of then, except maybe Goodes. He's been a champ.

Great player but never ahead of McLeod. McLeod dominated big games Mickey got the yips.

293 Games
505 Goals
2nd Highest goalkicker for the Swans ever
Premiership Player
2 time All Australian
1 B & F (and runner up)
Fos Williams Medal
Is in the top 50 goalkickers of all time
fair resume, from someone not playing in the midfield Id think he is being under rated by a few in this thread

I can't see that anyone has under-rated him. But you cannot put him in the same class as Mcleod, Wanganeen and Goodes. That's not under-rating him - he just does not have that same match-winning ability of the other champions at their best. Still a very credible AFL career all the same.

Definately!! May just wanna stand on the hill and enjoy a beverage but has always been loyal to the Hawks when back in Adel. would say the footy director will sit on this news til years end..
Dogwatcher - when u reckon he transferred to the Hawks scum.. thought he started his footy there?

As I understand it, he played some of his very early juniors at the Eagles.
Voice - I'm guessing you might remember that comment to Mick about "You will never play league football", as if IIRC correctly, you were standing there when it was said....
