Kane Cornes. The great white elephant?

Yes, due to his aerobic capacity he can run with and shut down players, but when he gets the ball more often than not he turns the ball over or put`s the receiver of his dodgey disposal right under the hammer, so they have to do something special to get out of the trouble that he put them in. Am i wrong or on the money?

For 2009, has a disposal efficiency of 78 per cent. Equal to Steven Salopek. Better than Jobe Watson or Andrew McLeod

Add to that list, Nick Dal Santo, Brett Deledio and Sam Mitchell

Granted, But if you watch him closely he gives a little two mtr handball a hell of a lot which isn`t that hard is it. But good call.

I think there's a host of others in the Port side that need to be questioned about their effectiveness before examing Kane my friend.

Absolutely dedja, its not one blokes fault they lost by 15 goals try looking at atleast 18 other of his team-mates.

Agreed on the team losing the game, however, in keeping with the topic I would like to know how many touches he gets in the back half receiving from sideways/backwards kicks.

Gets a lot of touches but doesn't seem to be overly damaging with them.

I cant believe people are bagging Kane..... He gets his hands on the footy and when you were winning he was in the best players every game. Now the team is struggling you pick out 3 missed handballs and 2 missed tragets by foot. If he didnt get his hands on the footy 30 times a game that means the opposition would probably have it and you would loose by 30 goals. no point having 100% efficeincy if ya cant getyour hands on it in the first place.

Obviously you guys are referring to the really blatent one on Saturday when he missed that HB badly on the wing. I dont think judging his overall game based on an ugly mistake such as this is fair. Sometimes its contagious and even the hardest working, most applied and most dedicated footballers make mistakes when teamates are making similar mistakes constantly.

From that passage on the wing the only thing that it showed me is Peter Burgoyne's lack of supprt and willingness to put in yard. There were 3 WB players on defecnsive side of cornes and he was signalling to to peter to come towards him for a handball and he didnt work hard enough to get there cornes quickly handballed and he missed the target

That's the part of his game I question he doesn't put himself in dangerous positions, ask the brains trust at Port if they would be happy to give up 5 of his touches if 5 more would be damaging entries into the forward 50 and I think you'll find they would take that in a second.

IMO it is standing out a lot more at the moment as they are struggling to find someone to break the lines and attack with S. Burgoyne being out and Pearce and Purgoyne playing some average footy. It's ok when Kornes is feeding to these blokes but at the moment they have a very ugly style of play that is as inefficient as it is ugly.

So it's ok to bury your head and say I'm doing my job?

If those guys aren't getting the job done someone needs to step up to carry the lines. Seems to me a lot of the time his first instinct is to look sideways or backwards. If he looked to take the game on with some of his possessions he would be a lot more damaging by not allowing teams time to zone off.

I just don't like Port, but respect the way some of their players go about it.

I have similar sentiments with Jacob Surjan and Robbie Gray
