Well it seems I write this every single year, but they have done it again.
We have the great bottom 8 clash at AAMI tonight between Freo and Port and who have we got covering it -
5AA
MMM
ABC
FOX1
TEN (Delay)
One HD (Delay)
Up in the Brisbane we have a top 8 clash between potential challengers for the premiership in Carlton and Brisbane and what have we got?
NOTHINGFFS TEN and OneHD are taking the FOX feed so it makes it 3 places on my TV I can watch this game, while TEN in the eastern states are showing Carlton/Brisbane live, why dont they put this game on OneHD so we can at least have a choice?
Why doesnt the AFL want a game being played outside Adelaide to be broadcast into Adelaide?
Seriously it cant be that hard

I'm sick to death of it. It's about twice in three weeks I've been subjected to listening via the net to Carlton play.
It's 2009 FFS, give me freedom to ignore Port and Freo simultaneously!
I pay nearly 100 bucks a month for Fox, and yet I can't get anyone there to utilise their noggins and provide me with a choice.
As they say, "common sense aint so common".

Agree completely. So frustrating when the 2 Adelaide sides are playing as they are on one channel live and one on delay whilst another game is just completely ignored. Port v Freo isn't a game even most South Australians want to watch.

I was getting SMS's from a mate in Canberra who was commenting on the game as it was broadcast live on Fox into the ACT. I had to tell him not to send me messages cos the game was an hour away and his constant SMS'ing was stopping me enjoying the futility of Better Homes and Gardens.
The entire thing is a joke. Needs to be completely revamped.

yet you flick over to CH518 on FOX and the Brisbane/Carlton game is being broadcast on Mainevent - to NSW residents only!!! why cant they flick a switch and show it here?
At the very least have an internet feed we can watch like the NBA/MLB/NFL have
I did see the half time highlights on the AFL site, I guess the AFL will say thats your answer

Im sure someone said with OneHD this problem would be solved...

Should get him to turn his webcam towards the footy then you would be able to watch it!!!

The Brisbane game was live here in Ceduna tonight, helps when your TV comes from QLD and we always take the free to air feed on a Saturday night.
But I know your frustrations as on occasions we get the same game on fox and free to air, and one game is ignored.

It's as bad on a Sunday when an Adelaide side is playing. Shown on both Fox and 7 while the other game is ignored. What's even more frustrating is when no Adelaide side is playing and they still delay the Sunday game on 7 for some old movie. Just ridiculous.

Prehaps they should bring back Fox Footy because didn't we get the free to air game if they were showing the fox game on 10 or 9

That worked if you lived in Adelaide or SA where you get standard free to air coverage not out here it assumed you could get the Crows/Power games on free to air and showed the other game on at that moment on Fox, so I used to get the problem your having tonight the same game on Fox and Free to air.
Solution, sell them all to FOX.

I hope that happens soon. Lots of people will complain but perhaps if they fix the way it is currently they would have a valid reason to complain. In 2009 it is stupid that you can't watch whatever game you like live whether it be free to air or on pay TV.

I hope you have registered your displeasure with the appropriate parties? And not just whinged on here. It happens every week Dutchy. If you support a non SA team while being a resident in SA, then ya gonna get screwed.

Come to Qld. We get live Friday night footy on Channel 518 and every match live except a delayed telecast (due to cars going around in circles yawn zzzzzzzzz) of the Sunday afternoon game that is covered by Seven. I believe NSW has a similar deal.
regards,
REB

I dont support either team, just a footy fan that wanted to watch something other than the yawn at AAMI that was on 3 channels!!!

I agree, but didn't the last TV rights deal only allow for 7 live games a week?? If so, what extra price was the AFL looking for, that the station conglomerate refused to part with, for that extra game?

The other problem is that there is no replay of the Carlton game until Tuesday morning FFS

They replay the Geelong game twice before then
Foxtel has the ability to have viewers choice for premier league soccer matches where 4 live games are on at the same time, press red on your remote and choose which one you want to watch. They have to try and get this incuded in the next tv rights.

For South Aust, if Fox have the Port game live they aren't going to let that go or show another game on another of their channels to compete. SA is their worst market I heard so they want Crows and Power fans to tune in.
Ch10 are forced to show it in delay, but are happy too (Fox wouldn't be) because Port will rate higher than the other game.
It's all because of the deal the AFL did re promising to always show Crows & Power games on free to air.
I reckon in the next TV deal Fox might finally get the exclusivity in SA they want, which would "free up" Ch10 to show the other game on Sat nights.
