Seem to be in sensational touch, with key players missing. I still can't see who will beat this mob, St.Kilda might get within 5 goals, but thats it!

Thats a fair call Dutch, i haven't looked to closely at them, but im still not convinced about the Dogs, they have been up and down this year and have played pretty poor sides in recent weeks.

This time last year they were 3 days before their first defeat.
With the injuries they have I can't see them doing.
Mind you' they've done amazingly well with the calibre of players they've had out so far and have been playing better footy than this time last year when they were struggling (despite being undefeated) in a lot of matches.
The rounds after this week will be interesting as they have to do a double header in Perth, might as well as stay over there.
This disruption might hurt them a bit.

Would that be out of the question? Seriously it actually makes sense. As long as they can arrange reasonable facilities for the few days they need them surely it is better than doing the extra travel? Thoughts?

Yeah I'd stay, the Warratahs just recently stayed 3 weeks in South Africa and had 3 good wins.
Turn it into a team bonding exercise.

I'd definitely stay in Perth as well.

I am sure the Geelong administration looked into doing this, they'd be stupid not to!

Maybe they are infact staying on in Perth for that week and just have not made it public?

How crap is that draw then? 2 weeks in a row at Subi. Imagine if the Collywobbles had that thrown at them...

It's only a 4 hour flight over there so, while it's a fair stint, it's not enough to warrant the cost and distraction of 40 people living over there for 10 days surely? Players, ermergencies, support staff, coaches, etc.

Should they be taken on sight-seeing tours in chauffered limousines while they are there?

They'd have to find decent training facilities, meeting facilties and take a heap of meeting/IT "stuff" over there. Not only would it be a huge cost, it would take the players completely out of normal routine for close to 2 weeks - sleeping in hotels, away from their families, etc.

If it was a 12 hour flight then fair enough.

I wasn't aware of it until this thread, staggering really that a team can be faced with that draw given the so called 'science' that goes into the draw...

4 hour flight plus 2 hour drive for the Cats. Both ways = 12 hours or exactly half a day saved.
Throw in a few more hours of waiting around, packing and not having flights exactly when you'd want them and it might as well as be a full day wasted.
Would only be 5 extra days over there and not 10 too.

Cats have a good chance of being undefeated. St. Kilda got exposed by Essendon and all the Saint's need is a few injuries and they won't be traveling so good.

i think if you have a close look at the draw that there is 2 weeks between geelong's perth games due to the split round. so plenty of time to go back and forth.
