UPDATE 10:08am: RICHMOND and Terry Wallace are believed to have parted ways after a series of meetings yesterday and last night.

It is believed the players were upset about Wallace's post-match critique of the team after Sunday's loss to Port Adelaide.

Wallace did not return calls from the Herald Sun last night.

Players yesterday, led by captain Chris Newman, spoke to Wallace about the closed-doors post-match address and it's understood Wallace has walked from the job, believing the players had lost faith in him.

The veteran coach was not immediately available for comment, failing even to return calls from close friends last night and this morning.

Wallace has been under enormous pressure since an embarrassing loss to Carlton in Rd 1 and his team is languishing in 15th position with just one win.

Wallace did not arrive at the club's Punt Rd headquarters today by his usual time of 8.30am.

Richmond assistant coaches David King, Craig McRae, Wayne Campbell and Jade Rawlings arrived at Punt Rd this morning unaware any decision on the head coach had been made.

Players spoken to by the Herald Sun were also not aware of any developments.

President Gary March also did not return calls this morning.

Wallace is in the fifth your of a five-year contract and was no chance to coach the team in 2010.

It is known that Wallace met with Richmond chief executive Steven Wright late last night.

Wallace only last week went on radio and declared he wanted to coach out the year.

In the same interview he said he would not put up a fight if the club decided to end his tenure early.
Richmond president Gary March, Wallace and Wallace's closet football friend, Brian Royal, were not answering their phones this morning.

The club is due to train at its Punt Rd home at 11am.

No real surprise if they have parted ways, but, surely Sundays loss could no way have been the straw that broke the camels back?

Tredrea drops a mark or misses a goal and they win. On the flip side Richmond were 16 points up with 3 minutes to go and lose the game, surely Wallace is well within his rights to question the players after that?

For mine a poor reason to do what they should have done 3 weeks ago.

I doubt we will see him ever coach again.

If you have lost the players then you dont have much reason to stay on because it will only embarass all involved. It is a pity that the criticism the players received, which was probably fair, has led to the players losing faith in him as it is what they need to become better footballers and a better team. Richmond just look as though they will continue to accept mediocrity.

Wallace has had the time to improve Richmond and hasn't done as well as he would've have liked but in what should've been a break through year for the tigers they have gone missing in a big way. I don't think Terry will rejoin the coaching ranks at the top level ever again.

No surprise, but there are no winners in this one ...

So who will the Tigers appoint for the rest of the season and will Plough ever coach again?

Will it be Wayne Campbell who gets the job for the rest of the year?

Apparently Terry Wallace is on his way in the car over to Adelaide to take up a five year deal at the Crows, should be interesting to see how he goes rebuilding the side!

UPDATE 11:03am: RICHMOND has sacked coach Terry Wallace after a series of emergency meetings yesterday and last night. Wallace's long-time assistant Brian Royal was also believed to be close to getting sacked, but walked on to the training track at 10.45am.

what a joke Richmond really are. Whoever takes on Richmond next year is a dead man walking - in the making.

Was he sacked, quit, or mutually parted ways, because the above article is a bit ambiguous.

Also, whoever is responsible for Richmond's style of play on Sunday ought to be sacked, whether that was the coach or the players not abiding by the coach's instructions. Trying to play a short-kicking, possession game in that weather was crazy, especially with a small quick forward like Nahas in a bit of form.

If Wallace was sacked, then surely Richmond have their eyes on Buckley and are trying to get him before anyone else does. What other reason or purpose would sacking their coach achieve at this time of year, and in their position?

Stoppage 20m in front of goal, ball knocked forward in wet weather fashion and Chad Cornes is in the goal square on his own ??
30 seconds later, again ball is scrambled forward and Motlop runs on to it with not one defender between he and the goals...!!!!

Now, really.. Under 12s even get as a given, that you have a defender protecting goal squares at any stoppage within kicking distance..

Where was the onfield leadership to ensure that happens..???
Coach cannot and should not have to work that out from the box...

Their issues are far deeper than Wallace I'm afraid......

TERRY Wallace will remain as coach of Richmond following a crisis meeting at the club this morning.

The Herald Sun believed the club had decided to sack Wallace until the senior players had a robust discussion with president Gary March this morning, confiming that Wallace has their full support.

Wallace was not at training this morning, nor were senior players including captain Chris Newman, Matthew Richardson and Troy Simmonds.

Tigers captain Chris Newman and football manager Craig Cameron will have a press conference at midday today.

Newman told the assembled media it wasn't true that Wallace was sacked.

But there is no doubt he will be, FFS man, just walk away from the job that is clearly no longer yours...
