How often have teams jumped out in front this early in the season and have a 8-0 record? and how many times have two teams been undefeated......
I think the Western Bulldogs and St.Kilda in recent years (separate years) had excellent starts but dropped right off.

I could be wrong but weren't Geelong and Hawthorn 8-0 last year, and the Bulldogs 7-0 with a draw against Richmond?

Bulldogs last year and St Kilda went 10-0 in 2004 and failed to make the Grand Final. Hawthorn also went 8-0 in 2001 I think it was before they got knocked out in the prelim by the Bombers. I remember one year the Cats went 5-0 and then proceeded to lose the next nine! Oh the joys of the Gary Ayres era.

Essendon only dropped the last H & A game in 2000.
Carlton dropped two games in a row, after winning the first 7, in 1995 (Swans & Saints) before rolling on through and smashing the Cats in the GF.

The worst season in AFL history. The league is only just starting to recover now.
