Jack Ziebell, if he doesnt get the rising star nom this week then its a disgrace

Archers toughness and Hirds skill and class all rolled into one 8)

I have a NFC like man crush on the bloke....

Big call with the Hird-Archer comparisons bud, but he does indeed look like a star in the making ... This weeks NAB call will be interesting given Walkers performance yesterday, but I'd expect Ziebell to earn the nod considering how close he must have been in other weeks.

Interesting that the commentators remarked about his lack of nomination yet he was 4th in betting for the award.

I actually think he'll win the Rising Star at season's end .. Rich got off to a good start, but he has some classier names around him and Ziebell already looks better than a few of the battlers at Arden St (with respect).

I think Walker may pip Ziebell at the post this week

They seem to like to nominate them after a stand out performance, rather than reward several weeks of good performances

Not to worry tho Dutchy, they'll have him pencilled in to get a nomination at some stage

Season Averages
Walker - 9 Possies, 4 marks, 1 tackle
Ziebell - 18 possies, 5 marks, 3 tackles

And JZ is a year younger than Walker and hasnt had the benefit of a year in the SANFL

And JZ played in a winning team, surely that makes a huge difference also

And JZ is a completely different type of player .. Being a ball player so he should get more of it, whats the goal tally between the 2?

Hondo's comment is also valid, it's not about season averages but performance on a given weekend. Agree also you can't compare those two. Didn't see Ziebell's game on the weekend but Walker was one of the few things for Crow's fans to smile about yesterday. As onballers I'd expect Ziebell and Rich to fight out this year's award and wouldn't be surprised to see Walker in the top 5.

I reckon Hill will feature in that Top 5 also and we haven't seen the likes of Natanui, Watts or Sidebottom yet ... Looks to be great influx of quality across the board, which is great for the comp.

Point being Walker has had one good week, in a losing side

Ziebell has been fantastic all year - you cant give awards out for one good week

I am all for Ziebell getting nominated but yes you can give out nominations for one good week. How do we nominate players after round 1? or how did Barham get a nomination after his first game?

Completely agree mate, and for that same reason I don't think Walker will win the Award, but we are talking about a NOMINATION for a particular round of footy, meaning previous performances shouldn't come into the equation.

Im not trying to argue that Ziebell has contributed more for his team this year, I agree (IMO) that he has (although same stats presented to me on Walker last week were quite eye opening).

Still think you can present a case for Walker's season being good for a Rookie though.

I think Walker could develop into a quality player, butr I think at the moment the kid ( I amphasise kid ) is so wrapped up in playing as an AFL FF he is not looking at the game around him. I may be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.
