Was this guy worth the effort, what i have seen is very un-impressive(afl) i haven't watched much SANFL lately but does the big fella have anything going for him?

i went to watch the bays v west game a couple of weeks ago, and he actually wasn't too bad - and from what i hear played even better last week against norwood. If he strings together another couple in a row, he may get a crack at it again.

yeah IMO he had a quiet first quarter but worked his way into it and when the game was on the line was one of several Westies players to stand up. Dominated against the legs 2nd ruckman when Doyle was off the ground.

Moran is in the emergencies so at this stage is seen as a second option/depth player. Whether this will continue into the future, well you'd have to ask the Crows football department, perhaps they see him as a project player, which he was at North Melbourne. Question is, if the Crows too view him as a project player, how long are they willing to wait for him to develop, and how much upside does he actually have?

edit: Another question would be, what do they view him as, a Utility, a Forward, a Back or a ruck, maybe even a wingman? As has been said, he has been playing ruck in the SANFL for West Adelaide, he did play well on the weekend against Norwood from what I saw, and is currently ranked 3rd in Hitouts in the SANFL on 77. But there is some traction to the idea that Moran is unaccountable, I don't think he is right for a defensive role, he appears to lack intensity as some put it, but alot of that could just be perception as he is a very big lad. I think gametime is what he needs, and if the Crows are willing to wait as it seems they are, time will tell, with how he develops.

personally, i'd persevere with him at least until end of 2010 as quick 200cm players don't exactly grow on trees. his game against norwood was very good.

personally, i'd persevere with him at least until end of 2010 as quick 200cm players don't exactly grow on trees. his game against norwood was very good.

Exactly, Moran didn't grow up playing the game, so his actions and decisions aren't instinctive, atleast not yet.

IMO he would be ideally suited to being the third ruckman on a list, not in the first picked but he does add depth, no doubt.

IMO he would be ideally suited to being the third ruckman on a list, not in the first picked but he does add depth, no doubt.

at least 50 games - i think he'll take over the crows number 1 spot in 2010 with maric sharing duties. that leaves tippett up forward and others to pinch hit as necessary. i think he'll end up being very servicable and well worth the late 2nd round (38 i think) they gave to north
