Welcome to the Eagles nest ;) , home of the Eagles for 2009.

This year will be very much the same as last year for the Eagles, they will struggle and will hit rock bottom.

My Opinion: West Coast to get the spoon!

Wont win the Wooden Spoon.

Still have some very good players and were absolutely decimated by injuries last year. No way they are worse than Melbourne.

I back a far more competitive year to say the least. Finish around 13-10.

Very Good win last week against a side that has a very good record over them home and away.

Selwood was terrific, Kerr was magnificent but will have a tough day this week with Baker following him around. Cox is as good as ever and Glass is looking much much better than 2008.

Interesting to see how they will go in Melbourne.

No show for the spoon on what they've shown so far this season but no show against the Saints this round either.

REB

Have been competitive this year so far, and they won't get the spoon

They will keep battling it out, but won't cause to much trouble.

Better than competitive at Home. Have beaten a side that you think will make the top 4 and another side who were highly rated before this weekend.

Have had one shocker and were in winning positions against Brisbane and Hawthorn away. Unlikely but still an outside chance for the 8.

The eagles are an improving team this year. As hearts has said they wont cause too much trouble. That is true as I cant see them playing finals this season. But they will definitly improve from last year. Although over the last few years they have lost a some great players. They have players like Kerr, Priddis, Selwood and Cox and thats just in the middle.

Looking at there forward structure and this is where they need to improve the most. The defence with Hunter (When fit) and Glass back there can be solid-ish.

Some players I would like to see thrown in is Masten and Nitanui. I know its round 6 and we have seen Masten and he goes alright when his fit, but perhaps seen Nitanui running around would be a positive move. Of course I mean when both these guys have gotten past there current injuries.

My prediction coming from round 5 is the eagles to finish 10 - 12.

Pretty good summary Stan,i think we are a developing side that needs a bit of time to get some games under the belt of some of our younger players.Masten goes pretty well and would love to see put in and left in to develope when not injured.Nitanui should be good and the sooner he is fit to play should be thrown in.I love the way Priddis plays and its been a while since we have produced a ball magnet( before Judd,Cousins,Kerr ) like this.Would like to see a change in captain maybe Cox or even give it to Priddis,Glass is a great player for us dont get me wrong but IMO not a natural leader

Glass is a terrific captain and i think we made the right decision in appointing him. Masten is struggling at the moment IMO, I know he is young but i still have some reservations. Looking forward to seeing Swift play in the Seniors. Priddis is good without being great, lacks leg speed but is a clearance king should be handballing a lot when he gets the ball.

Brett Jones is really struggling to regain his form from 2008 and needs a spell in the WAFL IMO. The thing that we really need is pace and skill in the middle, it is the one thing that we are really lacking since the departure of Cousins and Judd. The decision will have to be made very soon as to whether we can make finals because if not, is worth winning more than 5 games this year? Two top 5 picks would be very handy before GC 17.

No.

Has a shoulder injury, will play his 150th next week against Collingwood and then have surgery and after that it is up to him and how his recovery goes.

My mail on Thursday before The Footy Show was that he was retiring.

Yes that was the mail and the story was broken many places around Australia but he and the club came out and said at this stage that is not right. There is every possibility that he will not play for the WCE again but it all depends on how this surgery goes.

Another very frustrating loss. Had it in the bag if we kicked straight in the last 3 minutes.

Now 3-5 when could easily be 6-2 if not for wasted oppurtunities and they are not that flash. Very Frustrating.
