With a vastly improving Tigers outfit, similar to the Blues, they will be very competitive(except against Hawthorn and Geelong).

Richmond will lose the curse of finishing ninth and just sneak into the finals.

My Opinion: The Tigers to finish 7th.

I agree.
I'm not sure who would gets the final say, but why would you put cousin's back on when everyone could see at 3/4 time he was having concerns about his hamstring.
They were down by 10 goals, and the guy hasn't played alot footy over the last 18 months.
And no i'm not a Richmond supporter, just couldn't beleive that they would put someone like him back on with an injury concern.

I thought Newman was the obvious choice. Solid footballer, well-spoken, has the respect of a lot of members and supporters. He's not the most 'big-name' captain in AFL history but I think he'll be an excellent leader.

On the Cousins thing, I would've thought the medical staff had the final say whether or not he went back on. If Wallace rang the bench and asked if he was OK and the medicos said yes, not sure how that could be conceived as Plow's fault. His only wrongdoing would've been trusting his medical staff.

And as for the game, Carlton were very good, and we were horrible, and the result was justified. Dropping uncontested marks 20m out from Carlton goal + not being able to hit targets by foot (bar a couple) = a belting. Richo worked hard as always and Morton was good, but there was no fluency or clean ball movement whatsoever.

It's not over yet, it is still only Round 1, but it gets better with Geelong and the Dogs in the next fortnight.

The funny thing is I dont think Carlton played real well, rather Richmond WERE that bad. Skills were really terrible. It is round 1 though.

I dont know how you Richmond fans see Simmonds in ruck- to me he is a hack. The sooner you guys can get 2 ruckmen instead of him the better.

Defensive pressure non existent for a lot of the game too- Eddie Betts 5 goals? Come on.

Heads up Punt roaders, I dont think you can play a lot worse than that...

What exactly has he achieved with them in his almost 5 years??? Bubkus! They were as bad as any team could have been last night considering the buildup etc. It's hard to get a read on Carlton after last night. I still have my doubts about them, hopefully the Lions next week provide some sterner opposition. That young Robinson went pretty well, pretty happy with his spot in my dream team!

Simmonds was outclassed easily by a second year player and a first gamer. They murdered him in the hit outs.

I think the build up to the game and the spotlight on them really effected Richmond last night. Far too many mistakes and turnovers especially from their senior players. They were SH*T!!!

Defensive pressure in an issue, I think someone mentioned we had 1 tackle inside our forward 50 compared to Carlton's 15 or 16. We have no real genuine pace inside the forward 50 (Davey, Rioli etc).

The Simmonds thing is an interesting one. Pattison is our normal second ruckman (not sure why he didn't play last night), and when the two are playing together I think they work really well. Key forwards are the issue. Besides Richo, who seems to spend more time up the ground anyway, players like Schulz and Hughes haven't been able to contribute, leaving the work to the medium-sized forwards like Morton and Riewoldt. Can't happen.

Jackson is also close to the worst player getting a consistent game in the AFL. How he gets the tagging gig and Dean Polo sits in the VFL is beyond me.

they were a compete rabble prior to him taking over. 30 yo middle of the road players with no future going forward and sliding down the ladder. In the old days you could turn a list on it's head and rebuild really quickly, now it takes much more time. They are MUCH better than they were under the Danny Frawley regime. However, in saying that, picking guys like Kent Kingsley, Jordan McMahon in the draft, and sticking with Oakley-Nicholls defy logic IMO. Some steps forward, some steps back.

better than they were with frawley?what game was you watching last night...they were crap...soft as was like watching men playing the boys the skill levels was shocking..

any chance of playin adam thomson at tigerland??? surely!!

Sad start to the season for the Tigers, can't see them doing anything now in 2009.

They should win a few more games but thats it.
