Geelong Season 2009

Postby hearts on fire » Thu Mar 26, 2009 12:52 pm

Geelong also have their own thread.

Not much to say about the Cats, they will dominate and take out the Premiership.

My Opinion: Geelong to finish top and go on to win the Premiership.

Last year I tried to keep the lid on it all year and because we didn't go on and win the darn thing I didn't get all that much enjoyment out of a year in which we won 23 matches. So this year I'm going to be a pain in the arse every time Geelong wins just in case we do our normal '**** the Grand Final up' trick.

Screw it. The lids OFF! GO YOU MIGHTY NABasketball CHAMPIONS. BACK TO BACK WITH THE DAY FLAG NOW WHOO HOO!!

here is how the cats will win the flag get rid of Mark Blake. He didn't stand up again HE is NOT a big game player never has been never will be. Geelong should have kept King and traded Blake.

Geelong to get injuries and get knocked out in the semi.

Was amazed to read that Nathan Ablett quit Geelong to join Broadbeach Football Club and take a career as a plumber. Playing AFL or playing amateur league in QLD and working as a plumber ? interesting choice Nathan.

Nathan isn't your standard guy.

IMO, Cats need to get Hawkins into the line-up asap and find out or not if he can play, now that he supposedly might be fit. I don't reckon Lonergan is the answer when it comes to the Hawks (who we have to beat to win it), and Friday also showed me that Scarlett remains our most important player. Hawk forwards went up four gears when he was off.
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.

I think the Geelong of 2009 are much like the North Melbourne of 1999 and will use the debarcle of the 2008 GF as a spur to win the 2009 flag.

Agree 100% with this and North Melb in '99 are a perfect example of what I expect the Cats to do this year.

Cats to take Minor Premiership .. However, if the Hawks are in their road in September at full strength, I'd stick with them to get the job done again.

If both are at full strength we win. Chappy, Stokes and Harley were going half rat power and the decision not to play Gamble and Wojinski proved to be an unmitigated disaster.

Batchelor is long gone Legs. Tough for a player of his type to get a gig at Geelong.

Not a shoe in but during the first two quarters last Friday the Cats punctured the Hawks zone at will. Hawks the innovator, the rest the imitator, the Cats the dominator. 8)

Wrong. Croad and Young Gone for half the game or more, Hodge sore, Brown with 2 cracked bones and Buddy moving gingerly after half time and we still got up. Stokes is poor under pressure and Varcoe is the softest thing recruited from Centrals ever. Both wouldnt be in your best 22 REB.

re Stokes: Wrong - see 2007 Preliminary Final. Stokes was carrying an injury for most of the second half of the year and was ordinary as a result. He is easily in our best 22.

One thing for certain it will be a 2 horse race again...
Agree that at their best Geelong hard to beat..
However, leave the door open for too long again and look out....

LOL. The Cat selectors appear to agree with Matteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Stokes and Lonergan omitted because of *cough* 'soreness'. They were carp last week more like although Stokesy did get all shook up by Elvis Hodge.

Simon Hogan gets his chance and Manchild Hawkins gets the chance to kick a few points with his mates Mooney and Otto.
