All talk on the Maggies will be in here!! :D

The Magpies have made the finals the last few years and this year won't be any different.

Collingwood will finish in the top 6 this year and will go deep into the final, preliminary finals.

My Opinion: Collingwood are the next best side, behind Geelong and Hawthorn. Magpies to finish top 6.

I may have rated this mob too high, they may be a bit up and down this year.

Shaky start, but 21 rounds to go.

Looked liked we hadn't played a game for months. Besides obvious skill errors, the players were tactically outplayed. Lacking some serious forward targets, the use of the ball coming forward needed to be far better, particularly with Adelaide consistently having more numbers when the ball hit the deck. Forward line just wasn't functioning, and I can see this being a reoccuring problem for the year.

Forward line is going to be a problem & Rocca aint goingf to fix it.
He's finished as far as i'm concerned, i can't believe the Melbourne faithful rate the Woods as being top 4 material.

I agree re Rocca, but think Collingwood can bounce back. Cloke, Didak, Davis and Thomas were all down - a lot of attack upside there.

Having said that, it was such a satisfying feeling at the G yesterday when the final siren went. :D

Will finish in the 8, but like previously mentioned Rocca is not the answer to their forward line.

I just question whether they turned up to play...............

When Malthouse has finished teaching us about the use of English language, perhaps he might like to start coaching. Hopefully his last year, this year even if we happened to snag the flag

McLeod - 15 touches in the first quarter!!!!!! He turned up to play Mick

Before the game i was listening to david swarze with KG and cornsey and he was saying that collingwood traditionally dont play well against teams that zone well. he said they will go wide at every opportunity etc etc and they did exactly that. But the thing that hurt them was the fact that Adelaide were allowed to come straight through the middle on numerous times.

They will still finish in the 8 but couldnt see them in the top 4

And what's with Mick's post game rant at the press conference ??? Is that guy off with the fairies or is it just the strain of performance pressure showing ? Bucks will be in his chair next year surely ??

Meanwhile, what's the go with Eddie Everywhere sticking his nose into Richmond's business? http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,865 ... 11,00.html
Is that just a pathetic attempt to take the heat off his own club's performance or what? L-)

He has always been a post game ranter. Look at some of the stuff he dished up the Eagles in after match press conferences.

I'm interested to get Collingwood supporters views on Dale Thomas. From what I have seen (and its not every game he has played) he has a lot of talent, but does some completely idiotic and selfish things. Also, his inability (from what I saw on the weekend) to kick on his left would be a pain in the a$$ for forwards when he kicks that inside-out kick on his right foot!

Thomas was a good example of a selfish undisciplined individual who forgot the meaning of the word TEAM.
He certainly didn't come to play, just like 21 of his team mates.
Malthouse should stop trying to become the rotation genious (100 plus interchanges a week) what a joke.
Whats our game turning into? some players arn't given any time to get into the game. :? :(

Couldn't rack up a hard-ball-get if his life depended on it. Still waiting for this so-called talent to play some consistently good footy.

Dear Jimmy_041,

We've come out of last week with a bit of confidence and we rate Melbourne, but for two weeks in a row we've lost that first quarter badly and it's something that we have to address.

We chased from behind against Adelaide, got in front but we know the result of that, and the game against Melbourne, it was a wearing down process, and we had work very hard to get it back to even by half time.

As it turned out, the players had a seven-point buffer at half time, and built on that thereafter, but it's something we have to look at.

Perhaps we've been a little bit reactionary over certain things. Perhaps the boys have been a bit eager to do their jobs, and forgetting that there are jobs to do but you've also got to play the game.

We've traditionally been pretty good stayers, and the good thing is we've been able to finish matches off, and as a consequence, we got a healthy percentage boost out of beating Melbourne.

For a side that finished bottom last year, to have been able to recruit like they have, we had to work hard to win the game against Melbourne, and to win it the way we did, in the end, has given a lot of the players enough confidence now to be able to go forward.

It was great to see Dayne Beams make his debut and contribute the way he did. He has worked extremely hard to get himself ready for AFL football since he was drafted late last year, and fully deserved his chance.

While it was disappointing to lose Dale Thomas late to illness, we will hopefully get him back for Thursday's game, and Dayne took his opportunity and performed extremely well.

Looking ahead to Geelong, you can’t give them a start, as we've seen in the past. They're a wonderful football side. They're two from two, they've got form, and they are still smarting over last year's grand final loss, so it makes it an interesting game.

Regards

Michael Malthouse

I lost count of the amount of times Thomas tried that kick against the Crows. It came off once with a pass to Medhurst but only because he didn't have an opponent within 50m of him. He has the talent but is far too flashy... I like to see players try different things but he just tries the ridiculous at times. Daniel Motlop does the flashy things too but at least there is an end product most of the time.
