Well, where to for Geelong next year?

They WILL be top again next year and will play finals next year, they had many missed chances today and could have easily won.

Bad luck Cats, but this is not the end and the Cats WILL bounce back in 2009.

Will Geelong implode now and got back to what they were a few years ago, or will they rally next year and regain the better form of 2007?

Not real worried, stunned a few people before the game saying I wasnt as concerned by the impending result (had money on the Hawks) as my life was made complete beating Port by 20 goals last yeay, anything else would have been a bonus.

There were games (mostly early in the season) where they were clearly not at their best, but switched on when it mattered and still won those games (e.g. Fremantle in Perth).

I said they were good. They just didn't appear to be as consistent, and had a few more ordinary quarters, in 2008 than 2007.
I was talking about a drop in form relative to the excellent form of last year.
Interceptor has pointed out an example of what I meant. In 2007 they didn't have those patches as obviously.

If you look through their list, this time next year a lot of their best players will be age 28 or over. So the window's shutting ... 2009 is still a goer for them but they'll need to start to make some changes after that.

Their football revolution ended after 1 year ... quashed by traditional, tough, hard football. As opposed to fancy short kicks, look away handballs, kicks around the corner ...

They had a disappointing day I know they can play better than that. But when it got tough their high possession game was found wanting unfortunately.

Will make the G/F next year and wouldn't want to play them, they looked mighty pissed off after the game today, not upset but real pissed off

Not sure we can tip next year yet. Let's just enjoy this year for now (unless you follow the cats).

What happened to "THE DYNASTY?". After last year's GF we were all told that this is the beginning of Geelong's Dynasty. This is the shortest Dynasty I've ever seen.

Its all about karma, Ive been cocky as hell all year.
You think Id learn after so many SANFL and AFL GF losses I would have learnt my lesson.

By 2012 Corey, Mooney, Scarlett, Harley, Milburn, Ottens, Chapman, Enright, Ling will be all at least 31. I think 2009 is still open for them but to say there's another 3 seasons is a stretch.

Their premiership window isn't closed, but all I am trying to say is that IMO Bomber needs to re-visit their "revolutionary", high possession game style. Good, hard, tough, old-fashioned footy won today.

They are still a great team but they've been caught up within 12 months of looking absolutely unbeatable. But that's the beauty of footy. I thought today's game was great.

Sincere commiserations to Fester, Wedgie, Strawb, REB and all the Geelong supporters. Especially those that made the effort to get over there from SA today.

I would imagine that Geelong would be contenders for probably the same amount of years Brisbane were earlier this decade, and as such i could easily see them play in the next 2 or 3 grand finals.

GE are a very good team
But BL[3 peat] and ES a few years back were at least 5 goal better teams

This has got Essendon of 2000 written all over it for me. They were brilliant, but effectively, they've won one premiership in two dominant years. I can see them falling down the ladder a bit next season after today's effort. Mind you, it's a fine line because straight kicking could've had them winning their second flag in a row.
