Yes he is good, has kicked some goals this season and looked good for the legs, but he is still young and raw but is something to look forward to.

Will be faced with far greater/tougher matchups in the AFL and unfortunately big things will be expected from him (as invariably happens to the "Great White Hopes" the Crows pickup over the years).

That said he seems to cope with the big occasion fairly well so hopefully he'll go alright ... Really needs a punishing pre-season and greatly improved fitness base.

Think one of the reasons why the Crows didn't try him out this year is that he would've commanded attention straight away ... Generally when you blood the kids as forwards ideally you'd like them to be the 4th forward and give them a slightly less demanding initiation.

Pretty impressed with the lad, although it was the only game of his i've seen all year and from what i saw, he was consistently at the back of the pack and was lucky enough to snag some easy goals. How does he go in the solid marking contests?

I've seen three of his games and each time he's kicked a bag. Just knows where to be. Wayne Carey made a career out of not only doing the magnificent, but also being in the right spot.

His football brain is ten times that of Nick Gill, Jericho, Tippett etc

Not really sure how you can say that ... For all we know the names above just might not have the ability to match the brain?

Walks does appear to have more natural ability than those (or a more rounded game), but it could still count for nothing at AFL level (although we all hope and think not).

I actually reckon Gill get's a Raw deal ... He's a very difficult matchup when used as a leadup forward as he has excellent pace, height and hands ... People just see the odd goal he misses from 20m out (which fair enough should be kicked), but he can be extremely damaging between HF and Centre which is how he should be used.

Gill should be a certain starter each week, he shouldnt be the main target at CHF though

I'd play him from say 40m from goal leading up as far as the Centre/Wings and anywhere in between

I don't reckon he goes too bad from distance, it's just that when he misses, he really misses!

i think he kicked 50 goals this year not bad for a 17 year old in his first year of senior footy

Agree with all of you!

I heard on of the radio commentators suggesting he could also pinch hit in defence which I don't mind either

I think it's good to have a "X-factor" player or 2 in the side ... especially in the current Crows team

For mine that would probably be his main weakness. Hasn't taken many, if any, at all this year. Has great hands and can certainly take on overhead mark, but he struggles in pack situations and seems to get lost. But what an incredible talent.

Didn't Watts break his leg though? That can be a difficult injury to come back from even from an experienced player let alone a player finding his feet at a second club with not that many games under his belt. It might be hard to find your feet too if one of them is on your hip pocket.

That 10 goal haul was in a way, a flash in the pan. In the 28 games he played for us, that was the only time he kicked more than 3 goals.

I think that the year Walker is having is very similar to the year that Pavlich had in 1999.

He seemed to get a big head after that and wanted to go back to melbourne. The thing was he was a real chance to get a run in the cows forward line the year he left. Oh well I guess things just didnt work out for him.
