Both Adelaide and Sydney matches would have got another 60k to the two games interstate this weekend and that's despite perfect weather in Adelaide and the cheapest tickets in the country.
Time to move all finals to Melbourne?

What about finals involving two non-Melbourne clubs such as Adelaide v Port Adelaide?

Time to move all finals to Melbourne?
Oh dear - I can feel the hackles rising as more and more supporters of non-vic based teams read this post.

Just putting the question out there, looks much better for the game with large crowds at the game and generates more money.
Its a matter of the intergrity of the finals comp v better advertisement/finances for the game.
Mind you Geelong haven't got to play a home final and have to play all their finals in Melbourne, should be the same rules for everyone.

Well if the AFL were strong enough to take the points away from the cheats mid season last night game would have been in Melbourne

Or if the Kanga's had called for a count mid season as per the rules.

You're saying Sydney deliberately played with 19 men?
With respect - your coach didn't want to be the "Trevor Chappell of AFL", but you're expecting someone at AFL House to be.

Actually, while we're moving finals to Melbourne for the integrity of the game....maybe the AFL should insist that all finals be shown live on television in future.
Disgraceful that yesterday's game was delayed - particularly to country areas.

Perhaps it is time to disband the AFL and let it go back to being the VFL, and the SANFL can resurrect the Player Retention Scheme until a proper national league is formed.
It can't be a national competition if it is all run from one city.
Money isn't everything...
[I bet a few who have made their own assumptions are surprised to see me post that.

I hardly think Sydney vs North Melbourne would have broken any attendance records if it was played in Melbourne.
Besides they would have got easy an extra 10-12k at last nights game if the AFL had the brains to play it at the SCG. The AFL is seriously deluded if they think a team in Western Sydney is going to take off.

A bit off topic I know, but Just watched most of the Swans v Roos game and I thought it was pretty bloody good match, physical and dour at times in the wet ... Roo's probably didn't take enough advantage oftheir dominant periods and the Swans played counter attack footy for the most part.
What was going on with Matty Campbell's goal being judged a point?

And Brent Harvey's over the line soccered goal

. "i hate it when the umpires get it wrong"

Must admit I missed that, but heard the commentators mention it a few times

I think you may find Sydney had a contractual obligation to play the game at Homebush.

Exactly.
The Kangas did not have the balls to call for a head count so they only have themselves to blame.

I hate to rain on your parade but.
2007 First Elimination Final (Hawthorn vs Adelaide) Attendance: 36,534
2008 First Elimination Final (adelaide vs collingwood) Attendance: 37,685
only 1000 more. but is still a bigger crowd.

North Melb v PA elimination final in Melbourne drew only 25,000
So if you only had 25,000 at the G it would look a lot worse than 25,000 at AAMI
So not only do you weight things more in favour of the Victorian teams, you still don't draw more people for finals v non-Victorian teams
