Laidley.....

What was Dean Laidley thinking when he opened his trap and let fly about the so called 'tunnelling' free kicks supposedly not paid to his side against Sydney in Round 6?
Oh,that's right,he was deflecting attention away from the fact they had just been belted one week out from finals by the 13th placed team and he needed to get the talk about Sydney, and not his team.
If the JYD had seen what Mark Williams did before last years GF he would know you dont give opposition teams any ammo in the week leading up to a final.
Silly,silly move IMO.

Yes, a strange tactic. I rate laidley, I think he can coach, but he has a tendency to say some silly things at times ... but then again, a lot of coaches do.

C'mon Dutchy, this is a serious debate and I had meant to bring it up earlier in the week.
How often does a coach come out and say things in such a manner? Not very often,I am surprised more has not been made of it. (On this site)
Laidley said "We will have the best umpires this week" - What a load of shite, the best umpires, thats crawling and arse kissing of the highest order IMO.
He even named incidents in the round 6 game,Barry on Thompson,Bolton on Edwards, really you think there is nothing in this? You also think the Sydney boys wont get any ammunition from this?

Laidley has definitely created a diversion over his team's performance in R22. Has now come out and started a war of words with Sydney and the Umpires Department. I hope they get flogged

Kangas and Sydney have the WORST 2 umpires.. all they needed was McLaren for a clean sweep...
Vozzo - good consistant umpire
Ray Chamberlin - little dwarf, who has little man syndrome
Steve "I have to blow my whistle and pay 50m penalties to get myself on TV" McBurney....

Probably quite a few, but, my team did flog them last weekend (reason for me to post,we dont beat them very often ) and they are playing finals this week (more reason to talk about them ) and their coach opened his mouth and placed his foot in it,IMO ( more reason) all valid discussion points,I would have thought anyway.

Laidley could do worse, he could come out and play mind games all week saying the pressure this week was all on the other side not concentrating on his own club and getting belted by nigh on 20 goals and then spend the following 12 months falling even further into obscurity whilst the club he made fun of progresses even further.
Of course that sort of scenario would never happen, noone would be that dumb. Or would they?

Always been a fan of Bomber Thompson, didn't think the way some had a go at him in 06 was fair, he comes across as an intelligent bloke, not a dickhead that would send his team backwards with stupid comments like some.
Im a fan of several coaches, not just Bomber, some act like wankers, some dont, I prefer the one's who don't.

True,I guess one thing sets them apart though, some are Premiership coaches, some aren't....

True but personally I don't care about that, I enjoy decent intelligent people in this world and have no time for complete wankers, I don't care how many flags they coach or what sort of income they make in life. That's just me.
And as far as rating football coaches, premierships aren't everything, its not like if they win one they're a fantastic coach for life, I look at potential, how well its controlled and results produced, for eg if a coach acts like a wanker, gets 1 premiership but has been in charge of a squad during a time when he should have won 2 or 3 at the same time putting in some shocking results with no luck involved in important matches then I'd label him a complete loser.

Well that seemed to work well there for you Junk Yard Dog.
Mark Williams copped endless ridicule for his actions and words before last year GF,and rightly so,but he knew he was up against it and played a joker, well I hope Laidley cops grief over his ridiculous comments early last week and the fashion in which the Kangaroos rolled over and played dead in the last 2 weeks of thier 08 campaign..
Promised so much, delivered so very little.

I don't think his team lost by 119 points though, so he can cop about half of the ridicule to be fair.
