If so,what a joke. Not that I dont think Voss will be good.

Even if Brisbane played with the public* and pretended to show due dilligence in the recruiting process as opposed to just ringing Voss up and asking if he wants the job.

Will have egg on their face if he ends up being a dud.As I said, not the opinion of this poster.

I think Voss will prove to be a good coach for whoever hires him. His comments suggest he thinks a lot before he puts his mouth in gear, and I'm not convinced by the theory that everyone has to go through the apprenticeship process. I suspect Buckley would be OK too.

I find that very hard to believe in sight of the fact Matthews only resigned yesterday. The Brisbane Lions have opened themselves up to ridicule if Voss turns out to be a lemon.

I'm a massive Lions fan and I loved Michael Voss as a player.
I don't think there was a captain in the modern era that ever led by example like he did.
I also think he'll make a good coach one day.
But I reckon this appointment was a little premature.
I think the Lions would have been better off going for someone with a little more experience.
Brad Scott, Peter Sumich, Craig McRae or Craig McRae would have been the go I reckon.
Hopefully I'm wrong though and I wish Vossy all the best.
GO LIONS!!!

I would rather Craig McRae over Craig McRae personally.

It would be a terrible decision if they appointed Voss, legendary player but it's far too soon.

As AH said, Matthews only resigned yesterday... also Voss would be far too close to the current group of players and he has no experience.

Looks like they have the South Adelaide influence up there on the board!

I reckon this was stitched up months ago, maybe not expected for this year but at the end of next year, we all thought it was strange that he knocked back the GC job after being so keen, I reckon Brisbane had a word to him and a handshake agreement was in place for him not to take the GC job but to go off to WCE with an out clause in the contract then come back once Leigh calls it a day...if he had takent the GC job for 2 years it would have been too difficult to leave them to go to Brisbane...

seems a bit premature but Voss is an outstanding leader and have liked his commentary, reckon he will have success...

For those who keep talking in ifs, he HAS been appointed.

Some blokes are born to coach, I reckon he's one of them and will do well.

also they had to move pretty quick anyway as decisions need to made on delistings, contracts and trades, pretty difficult to do that without a coach, its pretty unusual for a club and coach to go seperate ways this time of the year, if he is going its usually announced a few weeks before the end of the season..

Im not so sure about that, but can't put my finger on exactly why I have my doubts ... As with all new coaches I guess time will reveal the answer.

Great to see such an outstanding bloke being directly involved with the game again at club level though.

I'm glad Carlton didn't take him. But I'm glad someone did because now we can truly make a judgement on whether it was a good or bad thing not taking him on.
