HELP! Bulldogs v Kangaroos RD 19

Postby Hondo » Sat Aug 09, 2008 11:08 am

Looking for some expert opinions. I don't see why the bullies are such favourites with the bookies ...

I am equal top on the office footy tips and now losing my nerve and can't decide on this one!

The only way the Bulldogs can lose is if they take the Roos easily.

Bulldogs defence will quell the talented indigenous forwards, Campbell and Thomas.
After that, all they need is to stop Harvey...
The Roos backline won't stop all of the Bullies forward options...
Bulldogs by 6 goal.

hmm this is interesting, tough game and to be honest they really play 2 different styles. The dogs are a fast running side where as the roos are a big bigger. Tough one to call, I would say the Dogs will have too much run for the roo;s today.

A bit late hondo but my theory is this.

Earlier on in the year I reckon the Roos played one too many talls and the top heavy combination weren't firing on all cylinders. When McIntosh went down I thought that might have been the end of the Roos but they have gone OK without Macca who wasn't in the best of form.

Since Macca went down Wells has picked up as has Campbell and Thomas so now the Roos look better in the small man department and still have Hale, Petrie and young Goldstein as the big bloke options when required. While this all looks pretty good against most sides I reckon it actually works the other way around with the Bulldogs. I reckon if there is one side you wouldn't want to be a tall man....er..short then it would be against the Bullies. If it is smalls vs. smalls then I reckon the Bullies' are better.

Now Mr Holland..............................................................s will probably come on with his Opus and shoot me down but I reckon by the final siren the Bulldogs will be barking.

Ive been fading the Roos the last few weeks, but they have convinced me, like them today, finally got some players back from injury and field our best side for some time....Thommo will have a big one I feel and we have a great recent record against the Bullies...we are 7-3-1 in Melbourne this year, looking at teh stats our last 6 weeks teams against us are only averaging 43 Inside 50's, was 54 for the first 12 games and AFl average is 50, so some great defensive work by our midfield of late...

looking at teh Bullies draw they have had a pretty kind one...

as always the Roos are only 1 game away from a shocker or a miracle victory, even as a fan its very hard to predict...
