Round 17: Adelaide v Sydney

Well every game against Sydney proves to be a tough, physical affair and I'm not overly confident we'll get the win. It'll be interesting to see what changes we make to the side. I expect Jericho to have blown his chances of staying in the side but we will get an indication of A. how desperate the AFC is make a career out of him and B. how desperate we are for any forward to play. I also don’t see a place for Shirley in the side this week and I’d like to see either Mackay or Otten come in which would be a good experience for them.
What are people's thoughts on this game; are we any chance to win?

I think it's a long shot, but hope springs....
I think it is time to forget Jericho, and to stop using taller midfielders as key forwards.
I'd like to see the Crows give Ottens and Mackay on field time, and try a bigger man who can take a contested mark like Maric or Moran at FF. I didn't see enough of Tippett at CHF to tell whether that was a good move.

Why do you want to drop Shirley??? who else in the team will tag???? he kept ablett to 25 possies when we got absolutely belted which i think is a great effort......

Adelaide have a good record against Sydney, or is that just wishful thinking! I'm pretty confident the Crows can come away with a win this week.

Well said - Shirley cops a lot of criticism like Doughty does - but both do their job. Robert Walls rates him as one of the better taggers in the comp.
NFC won't agree but I would drop Campbell before I'd drop Shirley - he still doesn't look like an AFL player to me yet
Sydney have some injury worries like we do - O'Loughlin & Barry will miss and Goodes & O'Keefe are in doubt. Our form slump will end sooner or later.
We are a chance but I still think Sydney will win

Exactly Doughty showed his worth in the first showdown this year and since then has put his body on the line for the team.... his skills have improved and if you take him and shirley out of the team we would struggle to win a contested ball in the midfield.
Agree Campbell still looks a bit lost and a few steps behind the contest but should develop in future i hope. Personally i would drop Jericho stay away from gill and mcgregor who offer nothing anymore and bring in a youngster mckay or otten

Crows are on their longest ever losing streak under Neil Craig and need to win 4 out of the last 6 to make the finals, lose this week and it makes it four wins from five which is hardly the pressure that they want to be under. The Crows should win on that basis save that the match is a home game for Sydney who themselves are under pressure to win to qualify as well.

I like Marty Pete, but I don't reckon the Crows got that one wrong.

Thanks!

He was on Bartel, who got a career high 41...
There is no one from Sydney TO tag! That's my point.

Shirley was given credit for tagging Ablett in that game Walls noted it on the couch that week that shirley did a good job but bartel killed us.....
And as for the Swans they have that 2 time brownlow medalist bloke whats his name.... oh yeah Adam Goodes he goes alright might chuck a tag on him.

Doughty is a million times the player Shirley is. True I thought Doughty had to go at the end of last year but he has been sensational this year and I take back everything I said about him. Doughty actually contributes, Shirley doesn't. Sure he will occasionally tag someone out of the game but it happens too infrequently and he isn't damaging enough the other way. And Robert Walls? That's a laugh and a half, he wouldn't have a clue about anything Adelaide related.

I infact think Walls does have an idea about what going on over here in Adelaide he talks with KG and Cornsey regularly and actually has constructive things to say better than 90% of the other so called experts

Umm Pete ... If he was a regular NON-PLAYING emergency, it would tend to suggest the club didn't think they lost too much in giving him up to the Swans.
