Well, with a full side you would probably have to tip Adelaide but with so many injuries, it makes the game alot more even.
Port Adelaide have had a poor run in recent times against the Crows and are having a shocking season, so there is a reason not to pick Port.
It has been a over a month since a SA side has won, and now one team will have the bragging rights until next time around.
The team with those bragging rights will be Adelaide, although with many injuries, how can you tip the Power?
Adelaide by 15 points.

The stuipd thing is the way Port are playing there likely to actually win the game. Which of course would make no sense.

Symes--- pffft,hack.
You know why Port got rid of him?
Well,he was our version of Martin Mattner, just doesn't tackle as well.Plays on taller and smaller blokes,a plus, just like Mattner.Runs well, just like Mattner.Makes crap decisions when streaming forward with the ball, just like Mattner.Makes basic skill errors, just like Mattner.
No loss for Port there. Not being too hard on the bloke,am I?

Yes, I think you are.
The Power have kept worse from the matches of theirs I've seen on TV recently. At least Symes bothers to tackle opponents with the ball.
I think he makes better decisions with his disposal than Mattner did, and he is improving now he has a new home.
I'd be quite happy for the Crows to look carefully at any others a bit like him, who don't fit into the obviously successful and well thought out Power style.

I think with Thompson,Bentley,Surjan,Stewart,P.Burgoyne and with Pettigrew and an ageing warrior in Wilson capable of playing the role Symes does do you think we had enough like him? Of the above only Wilson and Pettigrew could not head into the midfield, one thing Symes was wanting, yet has still to acheive at Adelaide.A handy player for mine, but nothing more, just like many half back flankers.
I think you are over estimating him Psyber,IMO he makes poor decisions and like Mattner (should have put this in my original post) is too one sided.

Think you might be right Booney ... Some things the youngsters can develop over time, but decision making is rarely fixed if it's not a natural quality and sadly I think the lad lacks in this area also.

As long as Symes knows his limitations he is good. He knows how to win the ball and he provides a tough body who will go in and win the contested ball. He was terrible against the Cats but impressive last week. As long as he doesn't try to do too much with the ball he's a good addition.

Fair post NFC .. So effectively, if the Crows can get more talent into their lineup, there's a place and a role for him into future ya think?

But what a player has can be mucked up if he is pushed too far away from playing a style consistent with his natural talent by a coach who wants to make him into something else, and he then starts second guessing himself all the time. Sometimes it boils down to a player/coach mis-match and is not specifiacally anyone's fault. I'm not saying Symes is going to be one of the great AFL players, just that he has more than he showed at Port.

How do you know that Psyb, how many times have you seen him play? Not saying I disagree, but he couldn't get a gig in a list at Port that was superior to what the Crows have now, and is very limited in his current group .. Surely can't blame both Choco and NC?

I admit I only know what I have seen on television.
Before and after 2004 a lot of Power players have seemed to be second-guessing themselves constantly, hesitating, and disposing of the ball to team mates already in trouble. Similarly, I think some Crows players have had the same problem. What I was suggesting was that sometimes a coach needs to use a player the way he can play or cut him, but that doesn't mean the player is a dud - just that he may not fit that coach/team's style, and trying to change him may not do anything but block him from doing well what he can do.
We could probably put together a list of players who have done poorly with one team and played well in another.

That comment is why Port Power are not the Port of old even though sometimes they like to pretend they are.
