Adelaide Crows = Injuries....again

It happens every year....when is someone going to realise you cant flog the human body to death without it giving up under pressure...

If I was a fan I would be might pissed off about the player mangement down there...they are not cyclists!

Quite ironic that one of the blokes the Crows de listed in Matty Bode had had a injury free year so far and is in good form...

I recall this veing a hotly debated topic once before, and I have to agree.

In 05 and 06 Adelaide fell short of the mark with a few stars missing important games at the end of the year. Now,injuries are not always bad luck, some are from bad managment.

Bode is probably training at about 70% the capacity he was at AFL level.I would think the Bays would give him some lee-way to keep him on the park.

Dutchy very hard to to train to prevent injuries such as shoulder and knee sprains/tears. Muscular injuries yes, ACLs and shoulder dislocations no.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Adelaide aren't the only team with injuries either. Did you see Kennelly's shoulder hanging out against the Hawks. He's GAWNSKI.

Popping it back in twice in one game was extraordinary.Breed them tough over there is Spudland.

FFS Dutchy here we go again ..... Burton does a knee, Porps pops his shoulder and you want to bring this up again?

Apart from Hentschell & Biglands impacted from serious knee injuries we have McLeod & Reilly with minor ones coming back. Our injury list excluding impact injuries would be on par with everyone else. Unless you have some sensible facts behind the sensationalistic headline (remember you are hot on the media glossing over facts).

If we had a spate of hamstring injuries such as the Bombers at the start of the year then you might have a case. But impact injuries are a bad luck part of footy and you know as well as I do.

Why isn't this on the Crows Board BTW :?

Im not so sure Tassie, I used to think your way but the human body is a wonderful thing, I reckon tiredness of the muscles and tendons around joints and bones could easily lead to ACL's and dislocations...

I agree a lot of it relates to luck, but there is also a preparation factor....when was the last time they had a good run with injuries? 97/98? Coincidence?

I think its a reasonable topic for discussion Hondo...

You could add that 80% of Crows players look very very tired of late, not injured, but very tired...

Dutchy, get your facts straight ...

- in 1997 we were missing Liptak, Tregenza, Ricciuto, Vardy and Modra for the GF
- in 1998 prev year premiership players Jameson, Bond were missing - not as many admittedly

However, what is generally regarded as one of the key foundations of those 2 premierships? Our fitness and preparation as we ran over both the Saints and the Roos. Who was our fitness coach? Neil Craig.

Every single player in every single team is sore at this stage of a season. We have a number of junior feeling the pinch as most experts (including REB on here) predicted.

Mate catestrophic knee and shoulder injuries are multi-factorial and yes fatigue can be a factor but given Burtons known aerobic power levels and that it occured in teh 1st half I would be surprised if it was a factor the same with Porplezya.

if this was a re-injury of Burtons I think you can reasonably ask is teh fitness rehab at fault. With porplezya it is an injury they have been trying to manage and given teh instability of the shoulder joint once theya re loose they are going to pop out time and time again - a la Kennelay.

However it is a reasonable question to ask But IMO opinion not in this case repeat muscle strains however....

I was at the Geelong v cows game last week and Porplyzia's shoulder was shot then. he reached for a high ball and was feeling it for the rest of the game. Was just a matter of time.

As for Tadgh yesterday, that was extraordinary.... full marks for toughness for the bloke, he has had joints popping out everywhere this year...

I think the club acknowledged a back complaint for Goodwin before the Brisbane game.

I didn't see him do a lot against the Pies, but he had a big game against Geelong, so he it's not crippling him.
Given the current injury list, he there's little choice but for him to play.
