Yes or No? Will he play on in 2009 and is he the right man to lead the Power?
I heard over in Victoria there has been talk that he is the worst captain in the AFL.
Being fair to Warren, he has had his injuries but me thinks it is time to hang up the boots. I am not saying this because of last nights miss at goal, but i genuinely think he has passed it.
Your thoughts?

I'm not sure why you'd start a new thread hof, this will just be another Tredrea bashing exercise from non Port fans. I think he'll play again next year, theres no way the club will ask him to retire either.

Thats ok mate, i realise you're not having a shot at him. I think he needs to continue because of a lack of quality young forwards in the squad. Willits, Salter, the Westhoffs etc, none are capable, at the moment anyway, of playing chf.

I saw him do that kick to win the match last night. He looked like it was a kick that wouldn't count as he marked it after the siren had sounded or something. It looked to me that he didn't get a 5hit whether he kicked it or not. If only Scott Hodges had done that in 1996!
Time for a cleanout Port and Tredders' time has come.

Went to the Corks v Swans game today to catch up with a few Swans mates and while they all gave me a hard time for wearing a Crows jumper today - most of them were saying the same thing, no emotion - it was like he was happy to miss...

After the game as Warren walked off towards the rooms, he looked as though he had a little smirk on his face.......
Strange...........

If there was an up and coming key forward in the squad he may be, but there isn't so he wont be.

When was the last time anyone from Victoria made any sense talking about anything Football related?

If Tredrea is to retire or be delisted (which wont happen),who will play CHF?
From 2000-2004 Tredrea was one of the best 2,arguably the best CHF in the competition, and as it has been said for decades CHF is the toughest spot to play. You get belted by gorillas week in and week out. When Brown is Tredrea's age he will be just as hampered by the years of punishment.
So,in saying that,White has shown little at AFL with limited opportunities,Westhoff is at least 10kg away from being used there,Thurstans has established himself as a backman,Motlop is not big enough,Cockshell has yet to be tried,so who plays there if Warren doesn't? People forget the injury to Tredrea at the end of 2006 was not dissimilar to a re-con and required several months of rehab, not ideal for a big bloke in the twighlight of his career. He has been much fitter and better this year than 2007 and I think will and should play on.
As for being the worst captain in the AFL look no further than the off-field example and on-field performances of Kane Johnson. His off-field behaviour would be appalling from a rookie and the way he plays has been influenced by Joel Bowden, only a midfield version.Chip and chase to get handball receive and build the stats.

He will be around in 09 but i don't think he will be the skipper. His for this year i think has been pretty good. He isn't going to dominate games like he did in the early 2000's as booney said he has been battered around for 5 or 6 years and it takes its toll eventually. Also who else on the port list could play CHF? I think only the CHAD could but he is too busy chasing easy stats in the midfield so that won't happen

.

Well said Booney.
I reckon Tredrea get's a bum wrap from a lot of people, generally opposition supporters who have just been waiting to give it to him.
There's no question he's not the player he was previously and as Booney pointed out, it's pretty understandable as to why ... Make no mistake, the bloke was an absolute superstar for a number of years in the hardest position.
Today I still think he's good enough to be playing AFL footy, I'm sure if Damon White (for example, otherwise insert player X) were able to hold down CHF on a consistent basis, Port would relish the opportunity to play Tredders in a Pocket as the 3rd or 4th forward, would be a difficult proposition for any opponent.
Sometimes I reckon people need to put aside their allegiances to their own clubs and recognise a champion when they've seen one.
IMHO, he'll play on in 2009 but will hand over the reign for the Power to have a new captain.

Yes I think that is his spot, but they need a CHF and FF as much as the Crows do now.

Spot on CP and Booney. Tredrea has been great at AFL standard, but his body has let him down for the past few seasons. As you say, if Port had the luxury of playing him out of a pocket, we wouldn't be having these discussions.
Plus, has anyone on here actually played CHF? I played a bit at CHB (at a shite level) and almost every time there was a contest, either myself or the opposition CHF would get belted. It's a tough posie to play.

Yeah he's got my vote. An absolute frontrunner.
