I think it's the end of Lade, he has always been slow but now he is just beyond the joke.
Wilson has only played a few games since injuring his Achilles, so i think he has just a little left in him.

Lade's still under contract for next year and was only an All Australian last year so it wouldn't surprise me if he went on.
Wilson yes, sad, a well respected player but its time.

Wouldn't surprise me if they both had another year. Lade because of the extra year in the contract, and Wilson because of his injury interrupting his pre season, so his form this year isn't an indication of what he's capable of. I think Wilson is a 50/50 proposition.

Wilson yes/possibly, Lade definitely not
If there was a walk up start ruckman who's knocking at the door to take Lade's spot, then possibly. But Deluca is far from that at the moment.
What would've happened in my eyes, is that they would've said to Lade - mate, we need you for next year, but we need to know whether this bloke can play, and the only way we can do that is give him game time.

I'd have been playing Lade at FF, and rucking some of the time only, and giving young ruckmen game time for the last 2 seasons.
Port seem to not be trying to develop anyone.

I dont think either will retire on their own accord, this year.I also dont think either will be de listed. As Wedgie said Lade has one year to go on his contract and will see that out.

Lade has at least another year in him. Legend.
Would have been good to see in the blue and white this week
Curse the bye!

Being an old slow ruckman myself Ladey has always been my favourite player. The big fella will go on and show that he is still a required player. Play him out of the goal square all game and he will deliver his 2 to 3 goals a game and create contests for Motlop, Gray & co to rove off.

I think you're on the money here regarding what happened Gadj...
Plus, it wouldn't surpise me if Lade is also carrying a small injury of some sort as well, maybe the medicos think the two week break may serve him well.

LADE
WILSON
Dropped becoz its gunna be too warm in Darwin ?
Makes sense to drop aging liabilities in the heat
Given that the following week is a bye for PA I think these 2 might be required in 3 weeks time ?
Both magnificent servants of the club
Gutsy, courageous , inspiring players
If their bodies hold out , perhaps another season each

Also looking at Chad Cornes whose body seems to be breaking down.
Not that I am suggesting he might retire ... but wondering if we will ever see players aged around 30 take extended breaks to get their body sorted so they can play that extra couple of years? Short term pain for longer term gain, from the club's POV.
Some players just never seem to get right once injuries start wearing them down.
We have previously seen what happened at Port in 2006 when they got their elite players to get their surgeries done before the next year's pre-season starts, once the current season was shot. It helped lead to a successful 2007.
Or is it just a reality of ageing that you never get the break until you eventually retire?
Back on topic - Lade definitely to go on. Wilbur not so sure.

According to the representative from the Port footy club whose name escapes me on 5AA, Lade will be playing for South next week, which probably wont hurt the Panthers to much!

Wilson wasnt too flash today for the Magpies...
And just loved his interest at three quarter time..he stood at the back of the pack looking up into the crowd and around the oval (basically anywhere but near Timmy). It looked REALLY weak
Edit- to correct some poor spelling

Agreed Brod, as said on the North v Port thread, I was looking forward to his game and was very disappointed with it, the only bright spot being he looks fit but its the first time Ive seen him with that sort of attittude, and that was in a winning side!

Good call. It also wouldn't hurt to have him at the club to help the next generation of Power rucks.

Yeah agree with those statements.
