for the second week in a row the AFL tribunal will be tested with another star reported for a head high contact. what will happen to "buddy" and how will it be seen after adam goodes was basiclly let off will the tribunal take the same stance with the hawks gun?

it looked to me that the tackle made the player 'drop' and caused more head high contact than might've otherwise been. I think that's a decent defense and therefore he'll get off.

Except the tackle helped move Doughty out of the way and I thought it looked as if Buddy may have moved the elbow out just a tad (but enough to create contact) (and granted I haven't seen the incident again through sober eyes).

I hope he doesn't go for a number of reasons:

1. He's a star and the best player in the comp. to watch imho.
2. Don't think he was deliberately trying to take him out
3. Thought Goodes incident was worse (in terms of deliberate contact)
4. Same as NFC, would leave a huge hole in my Dream Team.

From my viewing of the live broadcast and the re-runs it appeared that Buddy did half-heartedly lift the elbow and that made contact. It looked like he started to lift it , changed his mind, but left it hanging out. The act of lifting the elbow in the first place is an issue.

i think the issues is he made contact to the head..... i dont think he should get game/s but think he might get one. He actually made contact with dogga's head with his arm standard bump then the elbow comes up.

will be intersting to see how they grade the impact. it was high impact and intentional in the fact he went to make contact....

To me, its very similar to the Brett Burton one

It's the head-high contact that could do Buddy in IMO - I think that's the only reason Goodes didn't get any games

HAWTHORN star Lance Franklin will most likely accept a reprimand for rough conduct, freeing him for Saturday's AFL match against North Melbourne.

His probable acceptance of the early plea will make him ineligible for the Brownlow Medal.

Franklin is facing a one-match ban if he contests the charge tomorrow night at the tribunal and is found guilty.

The match review panel this afternoon upheld his match-day report for making head-high contact with Adelaide's Michael Doughty on Saturday night at AAMI Stadium.

Last year didn't the AFL decree that any contact with an opponent's head was going to be worth 4 weeks?

Soon after the announcement they made an example of Michael Johnson of Fremantle by giving him 4 weeks for accidental head contact in the NAB Cup.
It seems that as a non-marquee player from an unfashionable club, Johnson represented an easy target for the AFL to prove their tough stance.

Somewhere along the line it seems a superstar clause has been drafted into the guidelines so the game's blue chip players have a way of escaping suspension.

Cornes,Goodes, Kerr,Franklin & Murphy and I reckon a few others got penalties of varying degrees what blue chip player was protected?

There was the lift of the elbow at the point of contact, although it was done rather half-heartedly as though he had second thoughts while doing it.

The AFL were supposed to be coming down like a tonne of bricks on all cases of contact to the head but it seems they are happy to be more lenient on high profile players.

They set the standard with the penalty Michael Johnson ( a bloke with no previous 'form') received last year but have failed to be consistent in their approach to cases of head-high contact.
