Round 12: Adelaide vs Hawthorn

Postby hearts on fire » Mon Jun 09, 2008 7:31 pm

Adelaide have a good record over the Hawks at AAMI and i think this will be a close game.

But the Hawks will win by about 20 points.

Both SA clubs have their work cut out this week against the two top sides.

Think that the Crows are a very good chance of winning by a slim margin this week!

It seems to have been a while that competition for a spot in the Crows side has been so high and I feel that Jericho really showed something to suggest that he should keep his spot in the side. I think that some of the taggers in the Crows team might give the Hawks something to think about this week!

I actually rekon this will be a bit closer than every one thinks !!!

If we actually dont let Buddy get goin early it may go a long way to keepin the game tight !!!

For me I would start Scott Stevens on him !!!

Bock is our number 1 defender IMO - he should run with Buddy....

It's a night game, so it will be a close game either way, but the Crows inability to play 4 quarters at the moment may hurt them against the stronger teams. I think Hawks just, but hoping i'm wrong!!

Buddy's tough to match up on

IIRC Bock has the job on him in Tasmania and didn't do too badly? Bock's having such a great season I'd give him the job first up and see how it goes. The trick is to cut the supply from the midfield anyway.

If not Bock, I don't think Truck is the man and then it gets a bit thin unless we try Stevens

Blue Boy - what about Kris Massie?

Crows would probably be loathe to lose Bocks run, which most likely would be their fear on a matchup with Buddy ... That said if he or anyone could keep him to 3 or 4 goals they should recover any loss further up the field.

The weather might still be Adelaide's best hope of curtailing Buddy's output.

I also think stevens should get a crack. He is same hight, body shape and around the same pace. This leaves bock free to run and play his game.... the key is stopping the midfield as if they get on top of us it wont matter who is on buddy

I worry about Stevo on the Power Forwards for strength and speed...

He was towled time over again and again in 2006 and has proven he's very handy on the 3rd / 4th string forward or as a forward himself....

I still like Stevo more then Massie as a match up though

Bock will play on Buddy. Rutten played on him in tassie and he kicked 6 in the first half then bock went on to him in the second half and kept him to 1 goal and propably beat him. is propably the best machup for him

Stop the supply and you stop Franklin, no one is going to beat Buddy one on one. bassett needs to come over the top or the side of franklin for him not to kick another bag. the problem is, the hawthorn forwards are brilliant at creating space for buddy to run into. I think there will be alot of clogging in this game as the crows will run hard all day, but when the ball is turned over they will zone the back line to block up buddies area. we all know that buddy kicks all his goals outside the 40 metre zone, so why not have a few bigger bodies around that area.

Im with bock to play on buddy and bassett lending a hand when he can! Johncock is a big key this week if the crows are to get up!

Not sure what to make of Griffin coming in. Maric loved having the top job last week and thrived on having to play as basically the lone ruck role. I wouldn't have brought in Griffin as Maric had his best game for the club. McGregor needed to be dropped though, but I would've liked to see us bring in a small. Maybe Otten, but then again he's hardly small, but is an extra running player.

Anyway Crows by 11 points in a thriller.
